“I came here three weeks ago to celebrate the end of my physical therapy for withered hand.
As I was entering a man dressed as a pirate opened the door for me and tried to high pressure sell me an on the spot ColoGuard test. You know what I’m talking about? Where you do your business in the box and they make sure all is good back at the lab?
This guy was offering me 75% off the screening and even though it was a bit strange, I’ve seen bars do stranger promotions. So Pirate ColoGuard Night is something I’d been conditioned to expect by the mainstream media.
I said “Are you affiliated with Al’s Tavern and Brew Pub?”
And he said “I’m a pirate, I’m not affiliated with anyone. I take what I want” as he put the ColoGuard box in my hand. But he winked so I feel like he was hired to be there.
I took him up on it. He said the 75% off was only available if I paid cash, but he did take a picture of my id and insurance card with his Amazon Fire tablet.
I was unsure how much ColoGuard costs because the commercials never say, but $200 seemed fair and also he made it seem like I’d have to sit next to a dj playing Barbie Girl by Aqua very loudly in the bar area if I didn’t participate in the promotion.
So I gave him the money and he followed me to my car where I completed my end of the bargain and then handed the box back to him.
He disappeared like a pirate ship into heavy seas and fog. I went into Al’s and nobody in there was dressed as a pirate or offering any other sort of medical discounts. Maybe the promotion was only during happy hour?
Regardless, it’s been three weeks and I haven’t gotten my results yet. I keep calling Al’s but they just try to get me to buy a Super Bowl Square.
If anyone knows how to get in contact with the man I met, please let me know.
The food at Al’s Tavern and Brew Pub was great as always! Try the kielbasa sliders! Best food in the Quad Cities!“

“First time having white castle and it did not disappoint. Has the chicken slider, loaded fries and a medium chocolate shake. Fries were some of the best I ever had and the shake was a good size for the price. The seating was nice and clean, nothing was sticky or trashy. I really liked to be able to see all of the kitchen and prep area. Had a nice open concept for a fast food place. I would definitely recommend to try fresh white castle before trying frozen.“

“Everything I've ever tried was excellent! The Chicago Dog, Italian Beef ect. My favorite though is the Chicken Philly it's the bomb!!!!! The only thing I wish they had were Tom Tom Tamales. Maybe if we all keep asking they'll add it to the menu. ??“

“Lately the young crew are forgetting to put all your items in the order & now you have to ask for napkins, their not put in the bag as they once did...Now with all that said, I still will take kids to McDonald's, just not the one in hobart indiana“

“Stopped in here for drinks and food before a concert at the Hobart Art Theater next door. Took a while for my food to be made, but apparently they only had one cook on a Sunday with football going on. Would visit again before a show if we had time.“

“I LOVE schoops! Schoops is an amazing place if you just want to chill out with your friends or fam. The food here is amazing, many options then just a burger and fries! The milk shakes are just amazing, many many flavors! Customer service is great, even at its busiest. I highly recommend!“
