My girlfriends and I have known Joe for many years- from when he worked at Buck Creek Winery. He is The BEST! Now that I have finally visited the shop 2 days in a row- I know why everyone raves about Heartland. Last night there was a great crew working! The teens were very personable and friendly. They offered us a sample. Everything tasted sooo good. If you know how great Joe is- you won't be surprised that he has a phenomenal group of employees representing his shop. Joseph is a great business owner. He always comes to Swayzee Loinz where I work and supplies us up with cornbread ice cream and other flavors as well. truly a nice person and always takes my suggestions of new flavors. all around a good person and great businessman always looking for the next game changer.
Hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had! If you like sweet cornbread (or even if you don’t!) try their cornbread ice cream! I can’t even get over how good it is!

Heartland Homemade Ice Cream is a small, cozy, local ice cream shop and a true hidden gem. It is more than just a shop—it’s an experience that blends creativity, warmth, and flavor in every scoop. The décor is welcoming and unique, with playful displays celebrating the craft. The hand-dipped ice cream is truly homemade, not a repackaging of another brand, and features a great selection of unique flavors. Standout options include the amazing cornbread, blueberry cheesecake, S’mores, brown butter, lemon cookie, carrot cake, butter pecan, banana bread, peanut butter and jelly, Black Raspberry Chip, coffee cookie, and Twix ice cream.
There are tons of dairy-free options that are actually creamy and really good, like snickersoodle, chocolate coconut, and Dairy Free Cookies & Cream. They also offer Italian ice. Many enjoy their ice cream in a flight with waffle cone chips and whipped cream or in double-scooped, homemade waffle cones. The staff is friendly, super nice, helpful, quick, and patient, moving at lightning speed. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality, and portions are as expected. It is a small, local business worth a little detour, and it is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again.
