“Decided to check out this unique bar I saw online and bring the wife to it. It had a great speakeasy feel to it and it was a lot of fun overall! The food they had tasted great but the drinks were amazing and definitely the star of the show. I would 100% recommend everyone going here for the first time to get the cocktail flight and shot flight to share. You’ll get a real feel for what their spirits taste like and how good their cocktails are. The bartender was super knowledgeable and a joy to talk too.Truly, this place is the definition of hidden gem. Boy it is hidden, but once you find it you’ll be so glad you took the time to do so!“
“Stayed in New Albany for a weekend while on the bourbon trail and this was a great find. Very cool speakeasy vibe. We sat upstairs in what felt like an old house/ library. Loved the atmosphere. Our waitress, Rose, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. She even gave us some complimentary chocolates since we were celebrating an anniversary. I got the "fools gold" and it was delicious and so reasonably priced! We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come again if we're back in the area. If you enjoy good cocktails this is a must!“
“We went here for my bachelorette party dinner, this place was a very cool vibe. Our waiter Joey was very knowledgeable and made our visit so special. The crown jewel is so tasty and all of the appetizers were sooo good! Such unique place will be back when I come to town. Thank you so much Joey for making me feel special!“
“Deshaun was an excellent server! Prompt and attentive to a party of 8. Did a good job of making dinner more of an experience, didn't feel rushed. The fish and chips were good, it was hot and not mushy. It's traditional fish with a heavy batter. The scallops were good and the Brussel sprouts were excellent! The oysters were fresh and delicious!“
“Beautiful restaurant! I love the bar, it has a classic retro vibe. But, come for the food! I have had multiple items on menu, & I have never been disappointed. I love shrimp cocktail & theirs is top-notch. The latest thing I have ordered is the Amish chicken. The skin was crispy and the chicken was tender. So good!“
“Definitely a must try restaurant. I love Cuban food & try to get it anytime I’m out of town for work. This place knocked it out of the park. they had my favorite Cuban dishes, the food was absolutely delicious, atmosphere is amazing & the service is phenomenal here. From the moment you arrive till the moment you leave you receive the best service out there. I haven’t had a restaurant experience like this in awhile.“
“We got takeout with friends and it was delicious! I can't wait to go back and dine in--I've heard the ambiance is top notch. The food was amazing! Vibrant, flavorful, and beautiful. The pics speak for themselves, but do yourself a favor and check this place out.“
“I had North of Bourbon on my " MUST Visit List" ever since I saw them on the local news. It was worth the drive all of the way from Elizabethtown! Now, I am planning which of my friends I like enough to bring them to this gastronomic delight! First off, its intimate setting is on my list of favorite decors due to the giant bourbon barrel booths that line the right hand side. I was fortunate enough to be seated in one with my service dog (This is another benefit of coming here; they had no qualms about allowing my service dog in with me.). Next, I was beguiled by the tantalizing choices on the menu. New Orleans Cajun/ Creole food is the top of my favorite culinary styles, and the chef does it RIGHT in this establishment! I was here for lunch and some cocktails before my appointment at the Louisville VA hospital, so I ordered the catfish nuggets with a side of creamed spinach. Oh! What a treat! I felt I was back in the French Quarter and near Bourbon Street as the succulent fish melted in my mouth and the mild pepper sauce added just the right touch, along with the sparse roasted cabbage that was served on it with the pepper sauce/ glaze. The creamed spinach also did not disappoint.Along with this, I ordered the "What's Mr. Peanuts First Name" cocktail, which is Maker's Mark, peanut orgeat, and Coca Cola Classic. This was served with a shot glass full of peanuts, and before my entrée arrived, I was served a small, complimentary bowl of boiled peanuts which sent me into an unexpected reverie. I never ask for regular peanuts, but boiled peanuts at North of Bourbon are a legume delicacy! I asked later, and I found that if I wanted more than the complimentary serving, it would cost $5. That would be 5 bucks well spent. I finished it all off with an ounce or 2 of Maker's Mark K.O.B.B.E. Private Selection. I am a Maker's Mark Ambassador, and this did not disappoint! As I wrote earlier, I am already planning a return trip for destination dining and Bourbon sipping. DO NOT MISS AN EXPERIENCE HERE!“
“Three of us had dinner on Tuesday night. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Our server was Yasmine. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She was attentive but not obtrusive. Everyone enjoyed the food very much. We had a lovely leisurely dinner. I would definitely return.“
“This was our last tour on Kentucky weekend. We did it on Sunday and the first option was at 1pm due to local ordinances. Our guide (forgot his name) was amazing, very knowledge, passionate and extremely proud of his city. I recall he was a retired firefighter with Louisville Fire Department and he even had personal stories as a child with that building and later on as a firefighter when the building was about to collapse before being rescued. Even his passion for Louisville tap water was contagious. The tour was great, the selection offered and the tasting guide was amazing. Loved how the offered a higher proof rye for comparison purposes that was actually not available for sale, and how to wiskies bottled su the same proof but one barreled at a lower proof and the other proofed before bottling were so different. Highly recommended! My only recommendation is to offer some sort of priority access to the bat for tour customers or ask at the beginning of you want to go to the bar later and get a reservation of some sort. We wanted to go to the bar but it was already full and waiting time was 30-45 minutes which we couldn't afford as we had other commitments.“
“Went last night to celebrate a birthday! We had an amazing time. You do not have to rent a room to enjoy yourselves. Everyone on the open floor is very social and supportive of anyone on the stage. Everyone sings along and it was just such a great night. Cannot wait to go again! The drinks were good too!“
“The food was outstanding, as was the service. The restaurant was very loud. This is called "energetic" in the review area, but it was too loud for dinner conversations. From my experience where I live in the city of Chicago, there could be sound dampening design elements installed (cork on the ceiling, for example) that would make the ambient noise level much more manageable.“
“I went here on a Friday night around 6:45 with a party of three. I was able to immediately get a table, and I noticed the place started to fill up shortly after 7:00. This place is so cute! I really loved the ambiance, and the attention to details with the decor is amazing. It was a clean facility (including the bathrooms), and there was ample parking around back (you do have to pay, however). As for the service, I was pleased with the attentiveness. There was one point where the gap in service was a little longer, but it was a time where a bunch of people had just walked in. I was accidentally charged for food that was meant to be split with my party, and I didn't notice until I had already paid (my mistake obvi), but the server refunded it and only charged me for my two drinks instead. It was so kind! I am currently not drinking, but my friends ordered the Sangria and the Cosmopolitan. They said both were amazing! I order the non-alcoholic beverage called One Week, and it was delicious! I would recommend that more non-alcoholic options are added (I was told they only have alternative tequila, and I think alternative whiskey would be a great add). We also ordered the Kentucky Queso, Roasted Garlic Hummus, and Double Dark Chocolate Mousse. The queso was to die for, and the mousse was so rich! I will say the hummus was underwhelming as I expected it to have a stronger taste of garlic. Overall, I really enjoyed our time here! I would definitely recommend to others, and will likely take others here!“
“We visited from out of town on 3/28 to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was perfect, beginning to end. We started at the bar where Bryce made delicious espresso martinis and Clayton and Clinton were quick with conversation. We were seated promptly at our reservation time in the terrace. Keith and Trang took excellent care of us. Mike, another server in the room, overheard me explaining what wine I was looking for and he chimed in with the perfect recommendation. Keith made fantastic recommendations for our food. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the creamed spinach was amazing! We finished it off with the best bread pudding I’ve ever had! I cannot recommend this place enough. The service was outstanding, food was incredible, and the atmosphere is inviting.“
“Great specials. Was able to try bourbons I would have never thought to try. People were friendly, staff was knowledgeable. Drinks were awesome.Parking: Arrived just after 8PM and there was plenty of street parking, but when I left there were no spots available.“
“First time experience. Food was tasty but felt a bit pricey. Service was very slow. Soda was not correct syrup consistency but when asked the charge was removed. Not sure why there was a merchant fee. ?? They ran out of silverware.Vegetarian options: One of us had a taco that had a black bean burger in it. Excellent taste.“
“We had a girls night out at Square Cut and it was fantastic! We had the “chefs table” menu so we could try several different things and every single bite was amazing. My favorites were the pumpkin dip and mussels. I’m looking forward to my next visit!“
“Beyond decent. I love the humbled mindset that Jeanne and John have created here. Be welcomed by beautiful plants and pops of contrasting color brightened by the large window storefront. Browse, chat with Jeanne, and be amazed that after shopping for your new Silver Satin Exotica you can refresh with some curated spirits. The back portion of the shop acts as their bar. Stocked with Mezcal and Rums from many regions of Mexico. John knows and LOVES this stuff. Gavin, he's nice as hell to be tending bar as well.Every few months the flagship cocktails change for a new seasonal lineup, so be sure to pop in often.“
“On my trip to Louisville, I spent waaay too much time at Michter's both standing outside in line and in the brewery and upstairs pub. Let me just stay that the staff here is amazing and really made our visits a delight. We were intent on doing the BYO experience here, so we arrived at 9:00 am to get a good spot in line on our first day. Unfortunately the times didn't work out with our schedule the first day, but we made it work the following day. The tour was great and Jim our tour guide was super knowledgeable and passionate about the product. While we had a few members of our tour who indulged a bit too much earlier in the day, we still had a great time. The BYO was so fun and I can't wait to try the bourbon we bottled! The best part was pulling the lever and getting the bottle in such a cool box and custom label. We also tasted a flight of ryes in the upstairs pub, which was delightful and such a great way to end our day. If you are planning a Louisville visit, Micther's is a must do!“
“Added this rooftop dinner to my favorites list! Beautiful view, kind and fun staff, amazingly delicious dinner, and best cocktails we have ever had! Appreciate the sweet tour guide in the gift shop and our waiter, Whitney, for his recommendations and service.“
“This was the best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. There is a gas skillet built into the table and you cook your own meat, nothing better than hot off the grill!! It’s so interactive and such a nice place. It is on the expensive side, but I wasn’t left feeling bad about that, hell everything is expensive these days! Best cut of beef I’ve had in years, will be returning again soon!Vegetarian options: They have vegetable and non meat items.“
“What a wonderful bar to visit while we were visiting. They have a ridiculous number of bourbons to try at very reasonable prices. The other cocktails were also reasonably priced. I loved all the messages of inclusivity in the bar. Why don't we have bars like this in South Florida?“
“Really cool atmosphere, great cocktails. Bar tenders are very helpful and knowledgeable. Stated long enough for my husband and I to each have 3 drinks that were all different. They were all great in their own ways. Definitely a “Must Visit” place in Louisville.“
“We made a last minute dinner reservation last night and had a great experience. Service was casual and kind. I love fine dining when it’s not too stuffy and the staff get to be themselves. The cocktail list was difficult to read because everything looked either good or interesting. I went with the Smith & Wesson and it was definitely on the interesting side. I probably wouldn’t order it again but I’m glad I tried it and there are a handful of other cocktails I’m interested in trying another time.We got escargot as an appetizer and it was decadent. The French onion soup is also hands down the best in town.Anywhere I go I have to try their beet salad and this one had some wonderful earthy flavors. The steak was cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce and it paired well with their Bordeaux pour by the glass. With the two of us dining the bill came out to $205 which is pretty reasonable. I will be back to try the maple old fashioned and the PEI mussels.“
“Owner bill is awesome, he took time to teach me about bourbon and what goes well with what. The selection at his bar is top notch. If you can’t find it to have a taste there, chances are it doesn’t exist. Soon as I go back, one of my first places to go to have a drink.“
“Jessica & Harrison were perfect company this afternoon. This place is all about Cheese, Cheers, and Charcuterie’s!!!! If you are looking for a light atmosphere, great conversation, delicious cheeses & meats. This is your place!!! Ohhh I forgot to mention they have a well stocked selection of spirits, as well as a quality selection house cocktails.“
“Micah was the best we will be coming back for every date night he accompanied us very well and explained everything in detail I really needed help and he helped me anywayVegetarian options: YeaDietary restrictions: Don’t knowParking: GreatKid-friendliness: Perfect yesWheelchair accessibility: Perfect“
“I really enjoyed this cocktail lounge right in the heart of the Highlands on Bardstown Road. Drinks were fairly priced, well-crafted and the crowd was relaxed and pleasant. I like that they use non-mainstream brands for their drinks. Good atmosphere, lively & fun crowd, will definitely come back.“
“My partner and I came here after a meeting downtown and wanted a quiet, chill place to talk. This place was absolutely perfect! It had an amazing feel to it, vintage but not old. The fun and punny drink names were perfectly juxtaposed against how good and classy they tasted and were made. Everyone that was here seemed interesting and that made the ambiance that much better. Don’t like the outside fool you, do yourself a favor and stop in, pick a drink based on whatever song pun makes you groan the loudest, and get ready to watch the bartender make one of the best drinks you’ll have in downtown Louisville!“
“My husband and I had a staycation at Hotel Genevieve and decided to walk into Lucky Penny with no reservation. Although I would highly recommend making a reservation, we did get seating right at the bar as soon as a couple was walking out. The incredible host/server Shae was so kind and seated us right away. She was very helpful to us and to all the other guests that were there. The bartender was also great and made sure that we were taken care of. Definitely will be back! It's such a cool space, it really doesn't feel like you're inside a disco ball. The drinks were great also!!“
“Great place to hang out and drink in Louisville. They are open late. Good music, can get crowded on the weekend. The open patio is great. We didn't eat there, I don't know if they offer food because this is definitely a place for drinking and not eating.“
“Great atmosphere, awesome staff, amazing drinks, the old fashioned made by Greg is one of the best ? in town, the bourbon bloody mary is mouth watering, but you have to try the Cool hand luke made by Trevor; it is a must have. The bourbon bread pudding is delicious ?“
“We randomly came across this place and couldn’t be more happy with our experience. Everything was excellent. I had the spam fried rice and a carajillo. I’m not sure there’s a better hangover combo after a night out in Louisville. This spot is an absolute must.“
“This might be the spot in the hotel district (not sure what locals call it). An amazing, amazing, deep old fashioned and NY sour. So so good. It’s literally a library and feels so inviting. Their decor is fitting and it makes you want to stay. Could easily spend a few hours there chatting away.“
“The food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Several vegetarian and vegan options. The staff was friendly and efficient.Vegetarian options: The house salad is great with a tasty lime vinaigrette. The veggie tacos are fantastic.Parking: Parking lot behind buildingWheelchair accessibility: Flat surface to enter building“
“Wow. Now THIS is some good food. There are plenty of places that do "street tacos", but La Catrina gets it right. Very delicious. And the wait staff was super friendly as well. If you're walking the big four bridge, stop by and give them a shot.“
“Every part of our evening was great. The bison burger was the best burger I’ve ever had, perfect amount of juicy and flavorful. The service was also fantastic. Our waiter Jordan was very helpful and made our anniversary dinner and our friends’ engagement memorable.“
“I live very close to here and my kids like to go over just to run around.. there is tons of open space and seating on the covered patio n outside area. I have eaten at Jeffs doughnuts, Bandits pizza and Bunz burgers (I haven't eaten here since Bunz has moved to this location but Im quite sure its the same delicious food) and all 3 are super delicious. Jeffs doughnuts is kinda pricey.. for a doughnut i mean and Bandits pizza and Bunz burgers has very reasonable pricing. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. I will for sure be back to try all of the other restaurants.“
“I've taken a few friends to this speakeasy -- and it's been a wonderful experience every time. Tracy is a fantastic bartender, on top of it, who makes every interaction feel warm and personable. Natasha as well is quick and efficient, with such a kind smile. Each drink I've had has been tasty, and I've enjoyed each one. The ambiance is wonderful, and the live jazz is always on point. I'd recommend anyone go here--and I have recommended many go here!“
“Try the Seltzery! Our favorite choice of drinks are the pina colada and blueberry margarita. The staff is incredible, ambiance is chill but poppy, and the place is so modern, our fav place in Louisville for a drink. Also - bring your dog with you inside or outside!“
“We stopped here for breakfast before a day of drinking. I ordered a fall bourbon drink and it was delicious. I ordered the croissant BLT which was great! The service was a little slow once it got packed. My food came out and my boyfriend’s burrito took about 10 mins even though the groups after us got theirs before him. I would definitely go back for more coffee drinks.“
“My husband and I went on a Saturday night around 7. They use Resy for reservations. I love a place that takes reservations! It's a trendy intimate ambiance that seems more date like to me than something for a big group hangout. We liked the duck and beet salad for food. Pretty disappointed in the mussels but it didn't bring down the evening too much. My husband liked his old fashioned and I appreciated the alcohol free drink options! Marie from Tennessee was our server and was very friendly! Seemed like she could have used another server to help on the floor as the night went on. We'd return!“
“The food and service were good but the wine was mediocre. I got the roasted cauliflower which was slightly undercooked and a little low on flavor and I'd definitely skip it next time. But the steak frites and mushrooms were great, perfectly cooked and really tasty. The red wine was too warm, even for a red. The space was really cute but very echo-y and when other groups were loud it could be really hard to hear. I'd come back for the steak but maybe a cocktail next time!“
“First time at this bar and my family and I loved it so much! We went early November. Victoria, our server, was the nicest server ever. I am somewhat particular with my drinks, and I didn't really like the first drink I got (dirty martini, light brine with onion) so Victoria happily suggested I talk to the bartender after the bartender said I may not like The Calling Card based on my preferences. I talked to the bartender who was also SO KIND AND PATIENT and we finally landed on a gimlet and it was delish! I believe I ended up ordering three. Everyone that we encountered was so nice, it was the best customer service! Looking forward to going back!“
“One of my favorite places to go out to! Amazing atmosphere and vibes! The DJs are always amazing, the drinks are great (and CHEAP) and the food is delicious! Shoutout to the owners for making this place a fun, diverse, and safe atmosphere for EVERYONE to enjoy!!“
