I love hole-in-the-wall restaurants so trying Honey Jug was on my list since moving to Madison. I’m glad I did. Everything is fresh made which does make for a slower service experience but it’s worth it. The fried mushrooms are outstanding. The fish, chicken sandwich, and tenderloin was good — not fantastic but very solid. Crinkle cut fries are my favorite. The sweet tea isn’t syrupy sweet. Prices are better than I expected. A very good first experience and I will be back.

I absolutely LOVE this place! Went there for the first time today, and the food was just amazing. Incomparable to any other Mom and Pop shop, and 95% of any other restaurant. And the staff? They were more respectful than any restaurant I've been to yet, and treated my husband and I, with the utmost respect.

Great local place. Worth the drive outside of Madison or Versailles. Had the cowboy 1/2 burger special with BBQ/onions straws/bacon. With potato wedges. Great BBQ sauce. All was delicious! Friendly service, laid back environment. Went for a late lunch/early dinner so no crowds.Has indoor/outdoor seating. Recommended by the DNR guys at the campground.
