“Very good food. Love the fries and onion rings. It's no longer a Dairy Queen though, we came there thinking it was still a Dairy Queen and it's not. Very similar though, it is now called Slugger's and is baseball themed. Be careful on the tall seats, you can very easily fall getting off of them. They don't have a sign anymore so it's not easy to tell it's no longer a DQ without walking in or looking in the windows. They do have ice cream cakes and ice cream. Again it's very similar to Dairy Queen and is pretty similar in pricing as well. Pretty good food though and highly recommended, especially if you're going across the street to watch some baseball.Parking: About 12 parking spaces right by the building.“

We eat at a lot of different restaurants around Kansas, and this is one of the best small town diners I have ever been to. It’s clean, the owners and staff are super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere and decor is great and the food is so good. I had The Reuben sandwich for Lunch the first day, and it was built right on the grill. ?. We went back a second day. I had the chicken, apple pecan salad and a freshly made bierock that was sooooo good. Highly recommend If you are ever in Towanda Kansas, you eat at Thunderbird's.“
“Tried the new Parmesan Garlic Sauced & Tossed Chicken Strips Basket. Hot, fresh, moist, full of flavor. The best chicken strips I've had @ any Fast Food in awhile. Friendly, informative, patient Drive Thru staff. There are not DQ close by so it's a treat when I stop. Wish DQ nationally would get the MGMT, Marketing, updated & well maintained equipment, supply chain issues, financial backing they need to return to their original small towns. Community involvement is a WIN-WIN. Small towns w/all their youth sports & activities yr round are target population. Middle School & HS traveling teams could order ahead so you're not slammed, have time to adequately prepare.“

I always hit this location when I can, because the people are so friendly & accommodating. The young women that runs the place is clearly very involved, she runs a great clean restaurant.“
