Last time we were there the cinnamon rolls were not the same. Tasted too doughy. Pieces were smaller..Always enjoy the wait staff. The place needs to trim up the landscaping. Bushes are overgrown around the place. Looks like they blew it in Mission as that site is closed. The Independence site closed 3 or 4 years ago. I believe this one & the one up North are the only remaining places. They keep screwing around with it, the place my cousin wrote about all those years ago will...read full review

Stroud's is a restaurant that offers a variety of delicious dishes. Their chicken is described as moist, tender, and delicious, often served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The restaurant also features other popular options, including fried chicken and Chicken Fried Steak. They have all you can eat sides, such as green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy, and cinnamon buns for dessert. The staff provides friendly service, and the restaurant has plenty of space, making it a good place for families and groups. Located in a great area, Stroud's is easy to access with plenty of parking and wheelchair accessibility, including a ramp to the sidewalk and handicapped parking. On Fridays, they have a special on ribs, which are tender and served with a choice of sides. The restaurant hosts Easter buffets with a wide range of dishes. While the chicken is usually flavorful, some guests have experienced it as dry or cooked in advance, which can affect freshness. Despite this, many find the restaurant a must-try spot in KC, especially for its family-friendly atmosphere and location. Recent reviews highlight the friendly staff who treat all guests warmly, even close to closing time. The food is described as fantastic, plentiful, and fresh, with fried chicken being the star—crunchy on the outside and tender inside, served with peppery gravy. Portions are large, and sides taste homemade, creating a hearty Midwest family dinner vibe. Some customers have experienced minor mixups with carry-out orders, but the staff quickly and kindly resolved issues by replacing meals when needed. Overall, Stroud's remains a popular destination for delicious comfort food and a welcoming environment.
