“Man oh man. My bf and I were on our way to Walmart to pick up a rotisserie chicken tonight, and I pointed out the 86 BBQ truck. So we pulled in and ordered. We both got the BBQ brisket sandwich, a side of Cole slaw and macaroni salad. Now mind you, I’m not from the south. I have heard the ravings of southern BBQ so I’ve tried many a BBQ place in my 3 years out here. I’ve had better BBQ at the bar I worked at in Southern California in the middle of the desert than anywhere I’ve tried from the depths of Texas, through Mississippi, Tennessee and here in Kentucky. I went for the brisket cause it’s easy to mess up, but can be PHENOMENAL when done properly. AND LET ME TELL YOU it was tender, like fall apart tender, full of flavor, wonderful crust, and the BBQ sauce…was…perfect! Just enough to compliment the smoke, perfectly sweet, a tease of what I think was cinnamon, and a dash of savory. It did its job in complimenting the meat itself, without over powering or relying on the sauce. It was WONDERFUL. The slaw was Fresh and crisp and PERFECT. No metallic taste or soggy and watery. Unfortunately my macaroni salad was forgotten, but I’m not even upset that it was missed, just sad I didn’t get to try it. The lady who took our order was so so sweet and the epitome of southern hospitality. Nothing is more wholesome or makes you feel good about yourself than a sweet southern gal calling you baby, and following that up with some of the BEST BBQ I’ve ever had. We are so excited to try the other items on their menu, and will definitely be back! If you’re looking for the ‘southern bbq’ that you hear about all over the country…86 BBQ is the place to go!“
