“This place genuinely exceeded my expectations in every aspect!! I still can’t stop thinking about it! I found out about them through the Foodies of Lafayette page and people did not lie. We tried the Pork Belly Bahn Mi (which alone is such a fun, creative menu item for a place like this) and 3 portion BBQ plate. NOTHING disappointed, good LAWD. I also honestly feel like the BBQ plate is extremely fairly priced for how much high quality food you get. We tried the prime brisket, pork, and st.Louis ribs and everything was incredible. Also some of THE best corn maque choux I’ve ever had as a side. The pork belly bahn mi was also obviously as good as the pictures looked. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is incredibly stylish and comfortable, with a modern vintage look, nice spacious seating, and incredible bathrooms. The customer service was top notch too! Everyone was incredibly helpful and seemed so passionate and hard working, always staying attentive and busy. I genuinely feel so lucky to have experienced something so refreshing in so long, it’s been so rare to find a gem like this!“

“There was a bit of a wait Sunday morning. I had called in my order and still had a good wait in line. For those unaware of the process, call in the order and wait in line. Give them your name,pay for the food, and proceed to the pick-up window. Anyway, I ordered the ribs and 2 pork steak plates. If you want the brisket,chicken, or sausage plates, then arrive early. They will sell out and you will miss out.“

“I passed by this place many times and had been wanting to try it. I finally got a chance to as I was passing by on a Sunday.

I ordered two Sunday BBQ plate lunches. Overall they were tasty. Tried a few different things as sides; we had two plates.

The brisket, pork steak were both good choices.

Yams, coleslaw and baked beans as sides were all great.

The mac and cheese was pretty flavorless and weak. They could definitely improve that. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rice dressing was ok, but nothing to write home about. It lacks some flavor. As a rice base, it’s just ok. You’ll get it regardless with a plate lunch.

I’ve had my fair share of plate lunches over the years, but this was on another level. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The red beans and rice had that perfect smoky flavor — rich, hearty, and balanced. Nothing overwhelmed anything else. Just good, soulful food that makes you close your eyes and nod like “yes, THIS.” The mac & cheese? Creamy, cheesy goodness that could double as therapy. And let me talk about the fried chicken. Y’all. Fried chicken might be a simple dish, but what they’re doing at Veronica Café? Next level. The seasoning was chef’s kiss — not too salty, not too spicy, not too bland — just flavorful all the way through. Every bite had me wondering how they made it taste that good. “Pit stop from Houston trip and employees are the friendliest from entry to exit. Food variety is grand and presented well by server. Tasted smoked chicken was blah blah blah & I was hungry. Oh, there is a turn table six foot toy display with old toys from my young days in the sixties. Go shop with the kids at a clean establishment with amazing workers.“
