Abear's Cafe | Cajun is a wonderful Cajun restaurant filled with family memories. The food is amazing, with everything made from scratch. The okra gumbo is a traditional roux gumbo served in a LARGE bowl, and the red beans and rice with sausage is packed with flavor. The shrimp on the Poboy is cooked perfectly, and the Oyster Po Boy is so flavorful and fresh. The welcome basket of soft, true Poboy bread is delicious. The table has all of the Cajun condiments necessities, including Tabasco Sauce and pickled jalapeños. For anyone new to gumbo, the chicken and sausage gumbo offers classic flavors done right, as someone who has lived in south Louisiana their whole life noted that they make a proper roux - this is real LA gumbo. The servers are engaging and personable, providing a nostalgic experience with lively music and even some dancing. This is a must visit restaurant for any visitors and a great local place with amazing cooking.
