I’ve been coming to Happy Garden II ever since I was a Hellhound pup — June 2018 was my first unforgettable visit — and this buffet has been part of my life ever since. Today, on January 1, 2026, my dad (the Alpha of the Pack) called it New Year’s lunch tradition, and we all piled in like we’ve always done. My mom — the wise, calm Omega of the Pack — brought her nurturing energy, making the whole experience feel like family coming home.

Right from the start, this place embraced us with its buffet‑style feast — huge variety, inviting warm steam rising from the dishes, and fresh food stations that would make any Hellhound’s tongue wag with excitement. The buffet here isn’t just a simple spread; it’s a culinary expedition with something for every pack member: seafood, Chinese classics, fresh sides, savory mains, soups, desserts, and so much more served all you can eat — classic buffet style that’s made this place a local staple for years. 

Walking in today brought back memories of so many past pack adventures: summer lunches after long drives, milestone celebrations, and even rainy afternoon gatherings where we’d pack a plate so full it could barely be lifted. And through every single visit from June 2018 straight through to January 1, 2026, one thing has stayed consistent — the fresh, hot buffet spread that always rotates dishes to keep it lively and tasty. The seafood options here — shrimp, crab, crawfish (on weekends), and more — often stand next to the classic Chinese favorites that keep the buffet exciting and satisfying for every taste bud in the pack. 

My dad, the Alpha, always starts at the seafood station, eyes locked on every shrimp and crab leg like they’re treasure. My mom, the Omega, moves slow and steady — she builds balanced plates with care, always saving room for dessert. And me? I’m all over the buffet line, every food memory stitched together from laughs, stories, and overflowing plates. The service here has always been welcoming and attentive, and even on today’s New Year’s lunch visit, the staff made us feel recognized and appreciated. 

Since that first visit back in June 2018, I’ve never met a buffet quite like this one. Every dish is cooked and rotated with dedication so that food isn’t just sitting — it’s fresh and inviting. The variety is massive, and the buffet’s all‑you‑can‑eat style feeds both the stomach and the soul — perfect for family gatherings, celebrations, and memory‑making meals.

“Extremely embarrassed to admit that TONIGHT was our very first steak night. The ribeye was delicious, the twice baked potatoes were so freaking goodddd! I missed ordering my usual bang bang shrimp, but to try the steak night meal was worth it. Bread pudding topped it off wonderfully. Both of our kids had grilled cheese sandwiches and darn near licked their plates clean-after eating their meals, half of my steak, and stealing my potatoes. The staff are all super friendly and the service was quick considering we had ordered three steak meals! Thanks Boot T’s!“

“We had Saturday afternoon lunch and it was great! Our server Rhett was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful with us, as first time guests. The Mahi-mahi was fabulous, the catfish was the best we’ve ever had and the onion sticks are superb. To top it off, we tried the Peanut Butter pie and were quite impressed! This restaurant is worth the trip to Des Allemands, LA!“

“Absolutely incredible! The staff made us feel like we were family and that we were the most important people in the world. I'm not kidding about that last statement... they were awesome! The Chef, Joe Boudreaux, was extremely personable and truly enjoyed talking about his passion, cooking. The food was fantastic... boudin egg rolls, the spicy fried oyster appetizer, the Montecristo, and the pork belly wedge were all so delicious. My advice is to take a little road trip to St. Rose and eat some of the best food and meet some incredible folks.“
