“First hands down shortstop is #1 in po-boys i guarantee it beings that it's the longest place I've eaten my po-boys beings my grandparents lived i grew up 4809 Eagle st one block over I remember my mom and Dem sending me there to make groceries before they were a football shot they were a grocery store they did sandwiches in the back are on the side but then they went to all po-boys can't say I blame them best in the city and surrounding area they're good in quality quantity hospitality and service but let me just say this the people in there are sweet and kind is going to be and most respectful give them the utmost please and yes sometimes you'll catch one who may have a slight attitude but just know there's nothing towards you and it's nothing personal 2 minutes later they'll be the sweetest soul there is you got to understand that human too yeah but that's very rare short stop is apart of the city I don't know how my life would have been without them seriously there not just a restaurant they treat you like family especially if you are a regular and always come in there oh and I say this for me and most of everybody I know that goes there this is for the tourist and those who have never really been there you can not have a shortstop poor boy without a barques root beer I guarantee you and da family will pass a good time oh and yes I wanted to add it is a very family orientated and family environment again with all due respect is mind your manners and you will fall In love enjoy chef Mac“

“The most kind and attentive staff! We called ahead to see if it was hard to get a table of six and they told us it was not and to come on in. We showed up an hour later and they saved us a table. The food was authentic, fresh, hot and delicious. Our table had the lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs, Mr Ed’s special poboy and the stuffed seafood bell pepper. This was the most amazing food we’ve ever had. The hospitality was unmatched. Absolutely perfect! Come here for a good time, great food and exceptional service. Catherine was the most precious person and we wanted to take her to the Taylor Swift with us!“

“The crabmeat au gratin was awesome. I was really craving this dish but was a bit nervous ordering because a review said something about no crab but lots of shrimp in their dish and posted a poor review. Well, they do have a shrimp and crabmeat au gratin but I ordered the crabmeat au gratin (no shrimp). I can't tell you how wonderful and was absolutely full of crabmeat. Loved it!“

Been coming here with my family since before i could walk and it stands as one of our oldest traditions to have dinner or lunch here at least once a week. The staff are the absolute best! I also really like the chicken parmesan and the veal parmesan. the plates come with salad vegetable and bread very large portions. it is definitely worth the drive if you do not live in the neighborhood. they also have a nice selection of beers in the cooler“

“I took away 1 star from the food because of one recurring problem (for years) with the fried shrimp. Not the boiled shrimp which are yummy, only the fried. They are overcooked/chewy!! The mystery is that the batter is NOT overcooked, which tells me they must pre-cook the raw shrimp before they batter and fry them. I hope they read this and agree. My dining guests agree, in fact bring it up to me first. So I've begun warning them ahead of time. All the rest of the food here is really wonderful.“

“New Orleans is nortorius for not separating checks. I find this very inconvenient to the customer especially when you have party larger than two. Then it's very embarrassing to see customers passing the hat to pay for their portion of the meal with cash trying to figure out tax and tip. Everywhere I've been, there is no problem separating checks. I've been to New Orleans and requested separate checks and the waiters seem confused and then it becomes a huge delay. It's sad this restuarant has good food and atmosphere with this type of service and doesn't make it easy for customers to do business with them. They make easy for themselves but not for the customers. Go figure“

“My husband's 60th Birthday party was held at The Max this past weekend! The new renovations inside look fantastic! Several of our guests commented on how great the venue looked and how clean it was! and mocktail!
The Steak Tartare and the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice are some of our faves and the Timesaver was an inventive and delicious drink.
I liked that the Staff had great recommendations and the Manager made us feel really welcome and checked to make sure everything was good.
I have not made Happy Hour yet but def on my radar because it goes til 6pm and also Bingo Night looks like a good time to break up the work week monotony.“

“Experience wise our steaks was overcooked. I didn’t say anything cause the appetizer was fantastic. This was my son first time at a fine dining restaurant and he is 9. Our server Raymond made him feel like a king. My thing at a restaurant if you make my son happy I’m super happy. I have had Raymond before for my bday and he didn’t disappoint. When I tell you his service made me not care bout my steak. I’m also a waiter so to see another waiter handle himself the way he did i was super impressed. Sometimes it’s the small stuff that uplifts the experience. I recommend Raymond. Please make sure he sees this review cause when we come back with my son it’s only you I’ll want to wait on us. FYI my son chose your tip. I usually tip 20 to 22% he said your deserved more.“
