“IMO its a keeper and a great addition to the rotation. Great ambience. I vacillated on what to order and a last minute switch from the lobster black gnocchi to the veal chop was a good move. Started with the blue crab beignets and a martini (for me) then the veal chop which was delicious and perfectly prepared. For desert I had the creme brûlée bread pudding and espresso. My part of the bill was $125 and it was money well spent.“

“I have passed Fives multiple times, been meaning to stop in and finally did on last night w| a friend who was visiting.

We stopped by on a Tuesday, that is of course a pretty slow day in the city so it was pretty dead. We sat on the cocktail bar side and we were greeted by a super nice bartender— I can’t remember her name, but she had loads of energy!! We ordered a few oysters and they were hands downs some of the best oysters I’ve tasted. My favorites were the Mon Louis, such a great, clean taste. My drinks were extremely good. I could have sat there all night stuffing my face a drinking.

I wasn’t aware that Fives is owned by the same people who own The Columns, makes sense because food and drinks are always perfection there as well.

Fives is located in Jackson Square, prime location for tourists as it is centrally located in the Quarter. The space is limited, If you are expecting a full blown out restaurant, this isn’t the location. Fives is truly a cocktail/oyster bar. I believe I saw a total of four tables in each corner w| four chairs to each table.

This will certainly become a new spot for me to hang.“

“Very laid back environment with really great food and service. Also probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! We ordered the whole fish and the croquettes too, so good. “Made a first time visit on Sunday afternoon to this gem. Ordered the fried fish tacos and a boudin egg roll (had to try it!) and was blown away. Incredibly fresh veggies in the tacos and perfectly cooked fish. These are served on large tortillas, so I could only eat one and have the other for lunch today. The egg roll was a delicious treat. Service was great, engaging without being intrusive. Next time, maybe the milkshake! Thanks!“

I ordered the soup of the day which was the crab chowder - really decadent but not too rich. Dinner was a coffee rubbed filet cooked to perfection. I was dining alone but seated close to two different couples who did not know each other but struck up a conversation due to their proximity and I enjoyed their conversation as one couple was Swedish and the other was from AL but had Swedish roots. it was a really cool place to eat since I would call it fine dining but a comfortable feel. 10/10. “Visited from out of town. It was close to my AirBnB. I tried the fried rice combo which came with ham, shrimp, & chicken fried rice with a protein side. I chose fried pork chops. The chops were just mildly seasoned & not fried crispy enough but was a good quality pork chop. The rice was decent. I will return to try more options. An extra starFriendly service.“

Now the food, four different options, a chicken po boy, shrimp po boy, and a catfish po boy plus beef yakamein noodles. We all ate buffet style to try everything and I just have to say, try the whole menu, everything was delicious. We also had a fried sweet potato pie, AMAZING!!!. We will be back during our visit. The portion size is two meals, so keep that in mind and go get some delicious food.“
