“We have been here twice now, each time delicious and great service. We enjoyed meeting the owner, who gave us a bit of extra bread to take with us after we mentioned just how scrumptious it was! I love that wood-fired taste and they serve it right out of the oven. It’s not trendy, but rather cozy and warm. I love supporting local businesses that put their heart into their establishments.“

“I had just missed my flight back home and after 5 hours at the airport things began to look rather grim. I then decided to take a walk and by complete luck happened to use this location as a pickup spot for my Uber. What started as me wanting a small snack then turned into a newfound appreciation for Somali cuisine and an eating experience I will have yet to forget. Tawakal Halal gave me the best food and service in about 14 minutes than other establishments have managed to give me in an hour, so great in fact, that I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if I didn’t go a second time before I left. The food by itself is beyond amazing and I could write a whole review entirely on how great the food is, however, my personal favorites were the Goat Biryani and the Halwa as an excellent dessert option after. In addition to the food, the service here was amazing as well. The staff were always making sure I had everything I needed and doing everything they could to make my experience there a pleasant one, even offering me tea as I waited for my Uber. All in all, the best way I could describe this café to anyone wanting to know more about it is that it is truly everything you could ever ask for in a dining experience: fantastic food and amazing service. It even no longer made me upset that I missed my flight that day for if I hadn’t, I would have never been able to find this gem of a café. Thank you, Tawakal Halal, so much for giving me an experience I will never forget and know that when I return to Boston, you can bet the first stop on my itinerary will be your café. “We ordered through uber eats. The food was extremely good and quantity sufficient. Since we stayed in a hotel, we asked for plates and cutlery (there is an option to request for them). But there were no cutlery. Please remove the option to ask for cutlery if they cannot be provided by you.“

“This little tiny cute place looks like a tiny house stretched to be taller. It is right next door to Charlies Kitchen in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. You walk in and can go up a few steps where there is a counter to order, and downstairs there is seating for maybe 6-10 people tops. The place is great and is clean and the owner keeps it up well. The food is outstanding and falafel Corner and in particular, they produce some amazing shawarma wraps and rollups - nice and juicy and the veggies have always been fresh. This evening I called ahead and ordered 2 menu items for take out - the chicken shawarma rollup and the vegie combo plate. Both were excellent, tasty, juicy and large enough in portion to satisfy two hungry people. I'd recommend this place to all. A bonus if your into late night food action - I believe it stays open late, to like 3 or 3:30AM.“

“I met the owner chef a little more than two years ago he’s been in business for a total of nine years. His store is so busy. I cannot begin to tell you how great a job he does. It’s like organized chaos when I first started going there. He had two or three orders on the front counter now he has at least 15 or 20 every time I walk in the door. He is so nice so friendly no matter how busy he is always a big hello in the smile very very nice person. “If you are looking for authentic Turkish food north of Boston, look no further than family-run Istanbul Diner Cafe in Saugus (or their original location in Revere)! Pics are from my fourth visit to the newish Saugus branch, a fantastic Adana kebap, with a homemade rice pudding for dessert, on a blustery Saturday. “I put in an online order and it was ready to go as soon as I walked in. Britney helped me and suggested the honey for the chicken, and boy, was she right! She was very sweet and worked quickly to serve everybody. The food was delicious and fresh, the chicken sliders are more like chicken sandwiches, so you definitely get your money’s worth. “I’ve been driving by this place for months and finally stopped in this evening. Should have gone earlier!

I tried the iskender kabob plate. I’ve never had that dish before so I have no baseline, but it was tender meat in a delicious sauce served over bread cubes that soaked up all of the goodness — all with a side of yogurt. Amazing dish, I will return for more. Portion size was huge too. Tried the baklava for dessert, also excellent. Bonus, the person working behind the counter was super nice.

“Love the food. Remind me of my mom's food which is highest level of compliment anyone can provide. Food has always been fresh, I have eaten inside and got it delivered through Uber eats and door dash. Food quality has been consistent. I ordered from this place quite a lot. Keema, Nihari, Naan, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Achari Gosht, Chicken Curry, Goat Curry, Beef Curry, Biryani, Chapli Kebab, Pakoras. All of these dishes are highly recommended. I wish they actually gave more raita and green chutney, they definitely are stingy on it lol.“

“On one of the first days at my company, a colleague took me to the old New York Deli on Temple Street and introduced me to Kadhim. I couldn't understand why he would take the time - it's not like this guy is going to remember me out of all of the people who come through there. My mistake - every time I would see him over the years, at whatever location, Kadhim would come from behind the counter and greet me by name like an old friend. Understand - he was told my name once, over 20 years ago. I don't even go out to lunch very often - sometimes it would be years between visits to one of the Falafel King locations. But every time I enter, it's a big smile and greeting and an expression of appreciation that cannot be faked...go check them out!“

“We usually order from a different Shawarma place in Somerville, but decided to give Sam's a try. The food was very good, and in good sized portions. They were good about following requests to leave things out of the wraps. Note that they do the style with fries on the side rather than in the wrap. My only complaint is that they list some, but not all, of the ingredients on their site. So if you have things you can't eat, I definitely recommend calling them to double check. My partner can't do creamy sauces, and they listed tahini sauce but not garlic sauce in the lamb/beef shawarma, which ended up being a problem. Not a huge thing, just annoying that they make it look like everything is listed when it isn't.“

“Pretty standard halal cart food, but it's chipotle-style, where you can choose your own ingredients. Interestingly, chickpeas is one of those options, which isn't normally seen with the halal cart food. They have all the standard options like chicken, lamb, combo, platters and wraps.“
