As a member of the Boston Vegetarian Society and a vegan for over three decades, I was delighted to discover delicious vegan options on the menu at the Sun Tavern. The culinary standout, smoked tofu, surpassed expectations with its extraordinary flavors and textures, while my wife Meg's pasta dish presented a delicate balance of hearty and fresh locally grown ingredients. The Sun Tavern offers a cozy old tavern atmosphere with delicious food. The service can be hit or miss, as some guests found it disappointing while others praised their attentive service. The restaurant now includes a weekly vegan special on the menu, which was a hit with one reviewer. The Sun Tavern is known for its delicious steak tips, sandwiches, and the best salmon burger in the area. They have a good craft beer menu, including the popular Heady Topper, although the beer list doesn't change much. The historic building is interesting to learn about, and the restaurant has an area for kids to play. The Sun Tavern also offers a wine slushy, which was praised as the best one a reviewer had tried. The outdoor live entertainment was enjoyed, but it could be difficult to find a place to sit. The Sun Tavern is committed to delivering satisfying and robust vegan cuisine, positioning it among the finest dining experiences in the South Shore area.
