“I was a server for Andy Husbands 10 years ago, but I’ve been away from Boston since then with no visits until this month. Since Tremont 647 (where I worked for Andy) is now closed, that meant I needed to try Andy’s new Smoke Shop in order to eat his barbecue, so I went to the location in Harvard Square for lunch and ordered the pulled pork sandwich without hesitation.
Pulled pork is literally Andy’s bread and butter. The flavor was excellent, as I knew it would be.
I also got Brussels and wings. Both excellent. Mr. husbands knows how to smoke meet, he knows how to make sides. So give the Smoke Shop a visit when you have a chance. It was a no-brainer for me and it should be for you too.“

“Decided to go out for dinner with a few friends and it was delicious. I liked the citrus dressing on the avocado salad. The filet mignon was tender and flavorful. For dessert, green tea ice cream is a must!“

“Visited on a Friday evening, about 5:30. We were seated right away, and our server was prompt and very friendly. The view is terrific, and the smell of smoke in the air adds to the ambiance. The menu includes the standard fare you would expect (ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and chicken) along with what I consider odd reaches (veggie patty, vegan hot bowl, zucchini salad). I will concede, however, that if they execute these outliers with the same conviction as the standard meat options, any non-meat eater who wanders in will be fed and happy.
Our ribs and burnt ends were very good. The trio of sauces were solid, and the sides were a nice compliment. Good smoke flavor on the tender meats. Crispy fries, delicious baked beans with a surprise celery component that worked very well.
Backside of the menu offered a large variety of drinks. A limited but nice desert menu was also available.
This isn't a BBQ joint. If you're a fan of fantastic BBQ served roadside down south, you'll understand.
Overall, this is a nice, slightly upscale BBQ restaurant serving satisfying food at a fair local price.
Checking on ingredients for food allergies, I reached out to the website for answers. Got a prompt reply from the owner answering my questions. We were also asked twice before our order was taken. LOVE this level of service.
Vegetarian options: I would never eat these because I like meat. If you've come to a BBQ place looking to eat vegetarian, you're already living on the edge, go for it.“

“We stumbled in here and happy we did. Very attentive staff, clean and delicious food. My favorite was the biscuits. Perfect with two different butter choices. My husband loved their hot sauce. Each batch is made with 10lbs of jalapeño peppers and he could tell. Everything was great!“

“food was great but watch your bill. they sneak a 5% kitchen appreciation charge on it rather than giving their help a raise.“

“*Edited 10/24/24: If I could give Smokehouse BBQ more than five stars, I would. RUN to get the pumpkin bread pudding as soon as you can. It's incredible!*
The food at Smokehouse BBQ is so good! This is a regular go-to for me when I want hearty comfort food. The brisket is tender and juicy, the smokehouse stew is warm and filling, and the cornbread is sweet with the perfect texture. Highly recommended!!“

“Decided to walk through Allston on a grody, misty afternoon and look for some food. Walked in by chance and at my SO’s insistence that we give it a look. I loved everything about the aesthetic, and enjoyed the soft music playing in the background. Being able to choose the ingredients I wanted - knowing they were organic and that they looked more than delicious raw...that was the absolute best part. The gentleman at the front was supremely helpful and answered any question thrown at him - by anyone in the shop. The price was more than worth the amount of food received, and the care extended to us as guests was wonderful. I absolutely would recommend anyone to give this a try. Don’t hesitate to ask a question, you will definitely get an answer. :)“

“Words can't describe the incredible experience I had today. I especially want to point out our servers Kayla and Ethan for their beautiful service. They are attentive, make good conversation, and walked us through the entire process. I will gladly be back again as this is now my new favorite Japanese place!“

“We recently took our family of five to Tennessee’s BBQ in Braintree, and it was such a fun experience! From the moment we walked in, the place felt like the real deal. We ordered the Family Pak, which is supposed to feed four, but it was perfect for us with a little extra for our hungry crew. Ribs, pulled pork, and a spread of four sides came out looking mouthwatering.
Our little baby couldn’t wait to try the ribs! You could see the excitement on her face as she eyed the plate, and we couldn’t blame her. Then, our older ones got into the sauce like pros, and let’s just say there was a lot of laughing (and some pretty epic BBQ messes) at our table!
But oh, the food! The flavors were smoky and rich, exactly what you hope for in good BBQ. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone, the pulled pork was packed with flavor, and every side we tried hit the spot. The only little thing? The smoky aroma from the kitchen filled up the whole lobby and left us smelling like BBQ for the rest of the day—but honestly, it was worth it for such a great meal. If you’re craving real BBQ, this is the place to go!“

“Blackstrap is my GO TO for bbq, neighborhood vibes, live music, darts, etc. The staff is so fun, the food and drinks are amazing, it’s comfortable and chill but you still get great service and food/drink. The owners are super hands on and always there, and are such nice and cool people. Definitely recommend, especially for their live music nights! Nothing else like it around here!“

“We went looking for Barbecue International and found out it was changed to Himalayan Kitchen. First timers and we ran into the owner who was super nice. We had the chicken pakoras, chicken tika masala lunch, garlic naan and beef chilli. Honestly favorite restaurant in Somerville now, definitely going to be regulars here. Everything was spiced perfectly and was amazing. 10/10 perfect comfort food and also good day food. Really happy we stopped by.“
“Very high quality delicious char-broiled hamburgers, and I used to get huge steak fries, all even-sized. I had been going to Aris Barbecue at the Quincy Market building, next to Faneuil Hall, and their quality has stayed the same for 45 years!“

“I was one of the first to eat from here when it opened five years ago in the former D'Angelo's location. They food is outstanding, the service is friendly and the space is VERY clean. That's where the compliments stop unfortunately.Despite everywhere else in the area having reopened their dining areas, this location is still Take Out only for unexplained reasons. The McDonald's across the street was one of the first to close their dining space due to the Pandemic and was also one of the last to reopen theirs but they DID reopen their dining area. We're now almost two full years after the Pandemic ended but their dining space remains closed. The only possible explaination I can think of at this point is they're keeping the dining areas closed so they don't have to bother cleaning those spaces several times a day. Either way, they should have a sign posted letting people know if the dining area is permanently closed or no at this point. That aside, the prices on the entrees have been gradually increasing. When they first opened five years ago, the Oxtail plate came in three size options (Small, Medium and Large). In the summer of 2019 they announced due to rising prices on oxtail meat, they were dropping their Small and Large options for the Oxtail and would sell the Medium at a higher price. It started at $18 and is now $22. I like their Oxtail but I'm not willing to pay THAT much for it. I'm better off buying the meat and cooking it myself in that case. It's sad that they've decided to pass those rising costs onto their customers, most of whom live in the neighborhood--myself included. Other options have also had price increases in recent years. The pandemic sucked for everyone but and people get you need to be profitable to stay in business and pay your employees but this is really pushing it.One myth/rumor I've heard for a while that I can personally confirm is NOT true is some think the food is cooked at another location and brought there. This is NOT true. All food is cooked on site in the kitchen in the back. The food is SAFE, Sanitary and good. They also take custom requests on all orders within reason. For example if you want to mix and match certain items in the same plate, you can. Just ask.“
