“good service... delicious“
“My husband and I were lucky enough to dine at Ocean House for our anniversary trip to the Cape Cod area, and it was 20/10 to say the least. I have traveled overseas and back multiple times, and all over the United States - and not once through my travels have I ever experienced such an amazing dining experience as it was tonight. Our server - Christian was absolutely fantastic. He made our evening, from providing us top tier service to a thoughtful dessert for our anniversary- we couldn’t have asked for a better gentleman to serve us. We highly recommend Christian if you’re dining at Ocean House. We are so impressed with the service and food - we immediately booked for another night to dine with them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Ask for Christian, he will go above and beyond for you - and truly make it a memorable dining experience you will never forget. We are thankful we got to enjoy our 1st anniversary at The Ocean House!“

“Great spot for a solid breakfast that hits the spot! The orange juice is freshly squeezed and the coffee is strong. Very accommodating for different dietary needs (we had dairy intolerances and sensory needs) great experience and we will come again. If you want a really good breakfast on the cape definitely include this place in your list.“

“I had the turkey club special. Turkey, tomatoes, red onion and avocado on sourdough. It's been awhile since I was able to get back to them and it was worth the wait. The people are friendly and service was great. I will be back next year.“

“Perfect name for this restaurant. I know the history of this place. New owners bringing new life and attitude. I was originally looking for homemade muffins the day after labor day. Most bakeries were closed. I found peacemaker on line for super large moist lemon poppy muffins. Exactly what they were. Then I saw giant Choco chunk cookies and then I smelled other yummy food. We bought a cheese steak sandwich and the bread was superb, the portion of shredded rib eye was huge and delicious. Staff so nice. Pricey was quality and completely satisfied for the day. Recommend this place for breakfast and lunch.“

“The place looks awesome, has really cool stuff in it, and is just a great experience. The chocolate is solid and exactly what you expect from a candy shop like this. We had heard they had small food bites as well, but it ended up only being a breakfast english muffin, bagels and a few pastries. But to their credit all were good.“
“I’ve been coming to the snack bar for the last 18 years and it will always hold a special place in my heart. There is something about a family run business that can serve up delicious food and have a good ole conversation with you. 7 piece spicy tender with a chocolate milk shake is a little insiders tip!“
“I had the honor of photographing a wedding at the Wequassett and would 10/10 recommend. Everything from the staff to the food to the venues scenery was top notch.“
“THINGS TO DO: We obviously had a rental car (from Hyannis Airport), and it was massively helpful/useful as we used it constantly. For us, the Villages was a unique, affordable (most of the top properties are at least $1K/night) "home base" for us in the Brewster/Hyannis/Barnstable/Provincetown area. We had a 3-night stay and deliberately didn't do a ton at Villages or Mansion (though there is certainly a plethora of options). We had dinner one night at Linx (which was okay - not bad, but not super memorable) and then another night at the Ocean Bar to watch the sunset (this is a MUST do as it is the best spot at either Villages or Mansion to see the sunset) -- food was decent here.
At Britterige Village (part of the Villages), we were within easy walking distance of several excellent cafes, such as Snowy Owl Cafe, Kitchen Cafe, and JT's Seafood. We ate at all of these (especially for either breakfast or coffee at the Snowy Owl Cafe and Kitchen Cafe), and it was a nice change to simply walk back/forth.
We also did a day trip to Provincetown (highly, highly recommended) where we had both breakfast and lunch. Another day we visited local friends in Barnstable for an evening BBQ.
Pro dessert tip: Check out "Eat Cake 4 Breakfast," which is a famous bakery nearby for delicious treats!
We deliberately didn't use the pools or beach, etc., but appreciated that we were able to access the Mansion private beach, despite staying at the Villages during the Memorial Day-Labor Day timeframe where generally you can't do this if you're at the Villages.
STAFF: This is the "secret sauce" of any solid property, and Ocean Edge is no different. The GM Robert Newman was very gracious, and special thanks to Marc Bauman (resort manager) who kept an eye on us and was super helpful with our small requests. Also thank you to Michael Medeiros for helping us arrange a private pickleball lesson.
Everyone else we encountered during our stay would have a smile, and deliberately did what was possible to go the extra mile. For example, I recall when we were trying to get food/drinks ordered at the busy Ocean Bar, and a kind male server/bartender spotted us and ran over to take our order.
The housekeeping also seemed efficient and timely.
VILLAGES V. MANSION: We haven't ever stayed at the Mansion so can't comment on the difference, but think of both of them as massive college campuses that are about 4-5 blocks (~0.4-0.5 miles) apart from each other. There is a constant shuttle loop from Villages.
The Mansion is definitely where there is "more action" -- a gigantic lawn where tons of folks are playing games, eating food, chilling on chairs, etc., and far more eateries/restaurants, a private beach, etc.
But, like the Villages -- it is also super spread out and you need to plan to do a ton of walking.
ROOM/APT: My wife and I really loved the "apartment" style hotel-room with a spacious living room and kitchen. We knew the setup in advance, so we deliberately went to a Trader Joe's near the Hyannis airport and got some small groceries like yogurt, fruit, water, etc.
We correctly predicted that water wouldn't be provided in the room (other than by tap) so we were glad to get water bottles.
TV/WIFI: A nice touch that Netflix is loaded onto the TV as we signed into our account and enjoyed a nightly Netflix watching to help us wind down. A tiny point, but I would have liked the bedroom TV to be as large as the living room TV, but not a big deal.
AC: Many, many reviews here comment about the "loud" AC units. This is true. However, we are from New York City and sleep with an AC unit on and the occasional sirens blaring (though we are on a very high floor). You do need to adjust the AC units“

“8/6/21 Had breakfast here today. Got seated right away about 9-9:15am Waiter took order, BYO Breakfast sandwich with short stack, and 2 Scrambled eggs with sausage and home fries, and a popover. Saw other people come in after us, order, and be served. 🤔 After about 45 minutes, got up to ask where breakfast was; “it should be out soon” 🤷🏼♀️We we’re seriously contemplating getting up and leaving !! (Again, a breakfast sandwich, and 2 scrambled eggs!🤔) And it still wasn’t too busy in there. Our waiter didn’t come bring the food to the table, 2 other people did, never asked if things were ok. When he came to bring the bill, again never spoke to us, but, was talking to the table behind is. 🙄🤷🏼♀️ It came HIGHLY recommended, but, we weren’t fans. Oh, and also on my “breakfast sandwich”, I got charged separately for the English Muffin!! 🤷🏼♀️ it’s listed in the description as coming on an English Muffin, so, again…. Why being charged extra?!!🤷🏼♀️🤔 The popover was totally burnt and cold , and sausages over cooked and burned. 2 people- $34, Thanks, but no thanks! Service wasn’t that great! And 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich and 2 scrambled eggs?!!🤔 We aren’t tourists, we are local to Chatham, and was trying to keep it local, but, …….“

“Delicious sandwiches! We stopped here on a summer day for lunch, and we were able to eat outside on their porch. It took kind of a long time to get our orders (maybe 20 minutes), but it was definitely busy that day. The panini that I ordered was great. Bread was flavorful and crispy, and the cheese seemed high quality.“

“Sunbird is one of my favorite breakfast spots on the cape. The food is unique and wholesome. My favorites are the breakfast tacos and chai latte. I love the picnic tables and patio in the back - such a relaxing spot to enjoy quiet or a catch up with friends!“
