50 Best Italian Restaurants near Rockland

“We went on Wednesday night (3/11) specifically for the Wellington and were NOT disappointed. But I wanted to give a special shout out to the staff. When we arrived just before 7 the restaurant was busy not not full. Our server, as he passed our table, said he would be right with us. We waited. And waited. And patiently. Because I could see our server. He was at a table of 7 and I knew he wasn't forgetting or ignoring us. Then he was at a table of 4. Then one of 5. Then ANOTHER that appeared to be about 7 people again. He also had at least 4 two tops. I couldn't see far enough behind me to expand on that count. When he did come to us, an undisclosed amount of time later, he was kind and thorough and not at all showing the stress I'm sure he was feeling. I saw only one other server the entire time we were there and I'm sure he was taking all of the tables in the dining room we couldn't see. I'm sorry I cannot remember our servers name. Both men were bald and one was wearing glasses. Ours was the one without the spectacles. He remained busy through our meal, and we enjoyed the entire thing. Burrata with prosciutto to start, and then a Wellington to split. Both were phenomenal. The drinks were amazing, even with accommodations for one ingredient I am allergic to. At one point one of our cocktail glasses was broken accidentally by someone not at our table and it felt like the entire FOH staff (all 5 of them lol) came to help clean up and make sure everything was cool. They were all so kind and had smiles on, even though I'm sure they were still too swamped to clean up the mess. Honestly, for our very first visit I'm sure I could have been upset at the wait and complained that our server was too busy, but erring on the side of caution I prefer to presume it was either an unusually busy night or someone had called out, leaving the restaurant short -staffed. Kudos to the whole team for working together and keeping positive attitudes on the floor. We loved our experience and look forward to returning.“

“After living in Rockland for almost 10 years about a month ago I finally went into Dina’s. I ordered a steak and cheese at the counter and was told give me five minutes it’ll be ready! Now I thought to myself five minutes really so then I said, all time you do you think you can do it in five minutes, and the young lady behind the counter smiled, looked at me and said I own the place. I’ll have it in five minutes. Four minutes later, I had this perfectly cooked perfectly engineered steak and cheese. Now I’m a sucker for a slice of pizza as well so I grabbed one ehhh it’s just slice. Anything is better than Ellio’s. I grabbed my dinner and I left. I have my slice on the way home and it was amazing across between Greek style pizza and South Shore bar pie. Absolutely outstanding steak and cheese with top notch and since then I’ve been several times on my way home from work for some reason the slices get better and better each time but on a whim I tried the turkey gobbler one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time!“

“The hubby wanted to take me to lunch for my upcoming birthday..for our age and for our wallet we always go to lunch vs dinner...we are now already home with the pups in our jammies..so great...now as a self proclaimed foodie, I have wanted to try the food at Alma Nove at the Hingham Shipyard for many years...I am also a huge Wahlbergers show fan...adored their mom Alma on the show and her pal Phyllis...the show is so much fun..binge it if you haven't seen it..anyway...the weather today didn't look too spectacular for a waterfront restaurant but the blue skies showed themselves as we were eating inside...such a terrific location..the shipyard has been revitalized in the last 15 years or so...lots of shopping and dining destinations including the original Wahlbergers Burger Joint...I love this stuff...Dave is like ok whatever...but our experience was lovely..I will say however that my husband and I don't quite fit in the Hingham vibe...and it has a vibe..no shade but it kind of carries an air about it...the people I mean...lol...but we ignored all that and for sure enjoyed lunch..even Dave said how delicious it all was...our server...nice..we typically enjoy banter with our servers...he wasn't about that...all business and he gave us excellent service..but I do have the sense that more than likely the staff has high hopes of gaining maybe a walk on role on Blood Bloods with Donnie or maybe a handshake from Marky Mark when he comes through from time to time...hope for them it happens..fingers crossed...😉..about the food...great bread..seemed homemade but simple..fresh..served with butter that had black specks on it..turns out it was a black salt..interesting..a few drafts for Dave from Mayflower Brewery in nearby Plymouth and I had a lovely Pinot Noir...bottled water on the table..big fan of that..I ordered the Pan Seared Shrimp and Scallops served over a sweet potato risotto , topped with haricot verts(fancy greenbeans), toasted marcona almonds and truffle honey and my date had the Butternut squash Tortellacci with pan seared chicken topped with sage brown butter sauce, pecorino romano, apple cider gastrique and fried sage and chives..wow..we are styling here in the Shipyard...every bite was spot on and a perfect serving for lunch..we enjoyed all of it..dessert..well.of course..they have an in house pastry chef so that's a given for me..chose the Banana Bourbon Bread Pudding..when he returned he also brought a small chocolate dessert..like cake in a jar with whipped cream and a candle...he said they heard someone was celebrating a bday...we never said it so all I can figure is I posted that we were there for my bday and had tagged the restaurant...great social media connection if that was the case...we shared them and they were fabulous...took some photos around the place..ran into folks the hubby knew from Hull..absolutely highly recommend Alma Nove..those that aren't familiar with the background. ..The famous Wahlberg Brothers Donnie and Mark have a brother Paul who is the chef and owner of Alma Nove..named for their precious mom Alma and Nove in Italian means nine..there were 9 Walhberg kids..5 stars from me for Alma Nove.. Open daily for lunch and dinner. .I believe they have live music on Sundays and in the nice weather their outside patio overlooks Hingham Bay...a must try❤️ Mark has famously said their brother Paul is the most talented in the family...I believe that is spot on...“

“Dinner there tonight and it was excellent. Beautiful room with comfortable dining. Extensive wine and cocktail list. We loved several pasta dishes- bolognese, sausage broccoli Rob, arancini, mussels - all delicious. Great cannolis and tasty ice creams rounded out the night. Service was excellent and free garage parking behind the place is a bonus. Highly recommended“

“This has to be the South Shore's best kept secret! My wife and I were looking to grab a quick meal the other day and stopped by Cannoli's on Whitman's Pond. I've been to the restaurant several time for various functions, but never for dinner. Vinny was wonderful - just the right attention - no hovering, but there when we needed anything. My wife had the chicken piccata and I had chicken marsala. Both were incredible! Plus, it's affordable - around $65 for the two of us (including two glasses of wine!) This will definitely become one of our go to places!“

“Best Italian sub I've had in my life. My father use to deliver here for cam provisions and I would join him as a kid. He would bring them home when i was a kid. This sub is what I define as the perfect Italian sub. Got there for the first time in 15 years. A little less meat in the sub but still the amazing flavor. People were amazing.“

But the service was worth its own review. The two young ladies manning the bar and the counter were working at double time, filling orders, getting waters, pouring beer. It was a great experience, the patio was great for the kids, and we’ll definitely be coming back!!“

“We had a table for 9 guests. From the greeting at the door to the farewell upon leaving Trattoria San Pietro nailed it.
Going around the table, the compliments about the staff and food were exceptional. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, professional but in an easy going relaxed way that made you feel right at home.
The menu is extensive and I am very much looking forward to working my way through it.
And don’t be solely focused on the delicious food on your plates or drinks in your glasses. Make sure to look around and take in the design and atmosphere.“

“My husband and I stopped there for lunch while our dog was being groomed. We ordered sandwiches and my husband started to feel lightheaded. We were served and it had to ask for the check and take out containers. Our waitress was an angel from god. She brought the takeout containers and the check and also a bottle of cold water, an empty bag and extra napkins in case he was sick on our way home. We didn’t even get a chance to eat our food. She could be given something for her heartfelt concern which I feel was over and above. She is at the Abington restrained her name is Mary. God bless and keep you safe Mary!“

“Decided to try Evviva in Hanover! Well I was very surprised. Got seated by a hostess with a smiling face. The waitress Hannah was full of suggestions with great service. We ordered pizza and short ribs. The pizza was like I was in the North End of Boston. Short ribs were extremely moist and tender. The best I’ve had in a long time. The manager Dave came to the table to make sure our food was as we expected. Hanna checked on us as well. The portions were good actually more than we can eat. The desserts were fresh and delicious. I can’t say enough about Evviva in Hanover, Ma and plan on dining at Evviva more often.“
