Broken Creek Vineyard and Winery Wineries • $$
614 South St, Shrewsbury

“Broken Creek Vineyard and Winery is a delightful destination for anyone looking to indulge in some holiday cheer with family and friends. My recent visit to their holiday event was a truly charming experience. The vineyard hosted an array of holiday vendors in their function hall, offering a unique shopping experience that was both festive and enjoyable. The outdoor setting of the vineyard added to the holiday spirit, with cozy fire pits set up where we relished some holiday spirits and indulged in roasting s’mores. This created a wonderfully warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a winter outing. In the summer months, Broken Creek transforms into an idyllic spot for a more laid-back experience. It’s a great place to enjoy some takeout on their deck or at one of the tables scattered throughout the vineyard, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature. What makes Broken Creek Vineyard and Winery stand out is its versatility as a year-round gathering spot. Whether it’s for a summer picnic amidst the vines or a festive winter get-together by the fire, it caters to all seasons and reasons. It’s an ideal location for both family outings and catching up with friends, offering a relaxing escape from the everyday hustle. Highly recommended for those looking for a picturesque and enjoyable winery experience.“

“This is a nice little cafe that's easy to miss if you're driving by! There's a large parking lot in the back if you keep going up the driveway, which I believe is shared with the church the cafe is attached to. The lemon iced tea was delicious! Pancakes were huge and thick. The breakfast was standard and filling, nothing special, but still good. The staff were super nice, and the interior of the cafe is so cute with lots of soft chairs, a couch, and chalkboard walls. My small iced tea was $5 and my breakfast was $12. Everything is covered with a dusting of gold glitter, which is a fun touch. The tables themselves were a little small; my friend and I were suggested to switch tables to make it easier for our plates, though tbh, I don't think it made much of a difference. I would probably come back for a small snack instead of a meal for this location, but the ambience was so cozy and this is definitely a hidden gem!Parking: Keep going up the driveway and park in the church parking lot.“

Sterling Street Brewery Brewery • $$
175 Sterling St, Clinton

“Tucked away in the streets by the train tracks in Clinton is the Sterling Street Brewery. This is a great place to gather with your college friends to reminisce about the days gone by. It has that college bar feel, but with better beer of course. Our experience coincided with live music from Disco Lemonade, which added to the atmosphere. If Disco Lemonade happens to be playing where you are, you’re in for a treat. This happenstance did make for a tougher parking situation and longer lines, but no one seemed to be bothered by it. We were able to grab a table outside to visit and chat. Inside provides room to dance for the concert-going crew or space to sit at some high tops and take in the whole scene. Beer is decent and I sipped on a Newfound Pale Ale. Food is offered inside, however I took advantage of the food truck situated outside, the Caribbean Press, because there was no line. I enjoyed a couple of sliders, the jerked chicken was spicy with some heat. Overall, our gang felt it was a nice place to meet up. For the area, it’s a gem.“

“Two immediate positives: dogs are welcome and there is off street parking for 5 or 6 cars. Now for the treats: the artistically pleasing baked goods (not just cupcakes) are fresh and delicious. You can use DoorDash, or if you visit in person cash, cards and Apple Pay are welcome. Helpful folks inside can answer questions about ingredients. While they open most days at 10 (not open Mondays), the later you plan to visit, the less is available to choose from. Hot coffee and other drinks are available too.Parking: There are free spots for 5-6 cars.“

Seven Saws Brewing Company Brewery • $$
112 Industrial Dr, Holden

“We hosted a large private event at Seven Saws on a Saturday in October. We began this process nearly a year in advance, and I cannot express how absolutely incredible our experience was from the very first day—excellent communication, organization, service, accommodations, and the overall care we received. The taproom is stunning, with thoughtful design ensuring it complements the outdoor brew yard while allowing for a quick enclosure in case of weather changes. Many breweries seem to overlook this aspect, but Seven Saws nailed it. The clean 'farm chic' industrial design was just perfect, offering the delightful option to enjoy both indoor and outdoor spaces. Every detail at this brewery is meticulously planned. The fresh-cut flowers on the tables provide a charming local touch and are always a beautiful sight. I have never encountered better-smelling soap than what's in the women's bathroom at Seven Saws. It's the only time I get excited to wash my hands in a public restroom—this soap really hypes me up.The beer is delicious, with a constant flow of new flavors that contribute to community support. They also offer local wines, catering to non-beer drinkers—a thoughtful addition. This family-friendly brewery is always bustling with happy children, and they even allow dogs INSIDE! The fire pits are a cozy delight in the evenings, and I adore the entire vibe. The service is, perhaps, the best we've ever received. Every visit welcomes us with friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. It felt like they knew us and genuinely cared every time we walked in. Megan, the general manager, is an absolute treasure. She anticipated our needs and responded to every query with thoughtfulness and impeccable organization. She repeatedly met with us, patiently walking through details, even when asked repeatedly by different guests. Megan made our experience the best it could be—we must protect her at all costs!I also want to acknowledge the owners. Having worked in the hospitality industry for nearly a decade, I've interacted with many business owners. These gentlemen introduced themselves and shared their enthusiasm for hosting our event. They were consistently accommodating throughout the planning stages and took the time to remember us, which made us feel truly valued. Watching them support their team only added to our appreciation.Seven Saws Brewery scores an A+ in business management, service, atmosphere, and all the above. Count me in as a friend and customer for life. I wish you nothing but success and continued growth for years to come.“

The food, the price, the freshness, it's all here.I heard about rave reviews, but didn't have a chance to visit this place until now.Be warned: The portions are HUGE. I got the Shack Seafood Platter (which can easily feed 4 people), the Boneless Chicken Tender Plate (it can feed 2 people), and 5 eggrolls.I had leftovers that lasted for days, and the price is VERY reasonable. The staff is very nice and very personable. Just know that there are only 3 parking spaces available and only 2 tables inside, so I would recommend getting takeout.Highly recommended!“

Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company Brewery • $$

“Have been enjoying their Brew, especially Pulp Daddy, for years and finally made the trek to Woooster! Outside is a very old, not overly appealing industrial look, but indoor has been remodeled into a rustic factory look that is awesome. Very friendly staff and while hopping, the room can hold a crowd well. Have loved their imperial (high alcohol) brews since discovering them and was surprised of the quality of the tasty pub food!Easy on-off of the highway so no need to navigate the awkward streets of Worcester“

Berlin Farms Pet Friendly • $$
200 Central St, Berlin

“This farm dates back to 1731 and has a lot going on, even if not all of it is immediately obvious to visitors. For most, a visit will entail getting ice cream from their window stand, where, depending on the season, there may also be jams, apples, pumpkins, and donuts available. Of course, I can never resist ice cream when presented with the opportunity, so the Maine wild blueberry and the strawberry cheesecake were satisfyingly creamy, thick, and fruity choices for a warm fall day. There are makeshift chairs and tables outside the ice cream window. If you parked at the lower parking lot to the right of the window, you'll likely have admired the swan pond and the fields behind the main building. Another of their many activities is the breeding of endangered barnyard animals. Some of these were brought to the Americas by European settlers while others are indigenous. An admirable endeavor.“

“I travel extensively for work, and seek out Greek restaurants everywhere I go. This was one of the nicer spots, and located in a foodie strip of Shrewsbury Street in Worcester. I ordered pita and tzatziki playe and grilled octopus for apps. The tzatziki was much thicker than I'm used to, but delicious. I absolutely love grilled octopus, and Meza's didn't disappoint. I then had the Moussaka , which I make at home, and it was served in a crock, sort of French onion soup style. That caramelized the potatoes and eggplant, which was an interesting touch. It was definitely flavorful, though. I always appreciate a Greek-heavy wine, beer and spirits menu. My only complaint was that service was pretty slow, even though the restaurant was quiet for a Thursday night. Everything was correct, just slow and impersonal. I will definitely be back next month when I'm in town.“
