I've been coming here since I was a little girl, and love their food and menu.... however their service is absolutely atrocious. we have waited over 30min to even be greeted, forgotten to be served, and when they did take our order half of what we ordered was not delivered, yet charged to our bill.... ignored for boxes, the list goes on. C-Stones Tavern, the former Vel’s, offers a lively atmosphere with a full bar and friendly waitstaff. The restaurant serves excellent dinners like broiled haddock and grilled chicken, both piping hot and fresh, with a huge haddock filet cooked to perfection without crumbs or fillers. Chicken is moist, tender, with flavorful seasoning. Sides include cole slaw, baked potato, wild rice, freshly made salads, and chowder served hot and super plentiful. The fisherman’s platter and shrimp fettuccine alfredo are delicious, and the clam chowder uses the same recipe as Vel’s. Despite being busy, there is not a long wait to be seated or for food and drinks. Some reviews note the cocktail menu is sorely lacking and the interior is sad and bland, losing the character of the old Vel’s. However, many find it a nice family restaurant worth visiting, with good food and a great spot for locals to connect. Overall, a must-try that is worth giving a chance.
