“Having dined at Basil Restaurant last night, I must say the ambiance was top-notch. The dim lighting and cozy seating made for a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service was a bit slow, as it took quite some time for our food to arrive. Nonetheless, when the dishes finally made their way to our table, they were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the basil-infused pasta, which was bursting with flavor. The prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food, but I do wish the portions were a tad larger. Overall, Basil Restaurant offers a decent dining experience with room for improvement in service efficiency.“

“We had an amazing meal in this cosy, warm and welcoming joint right in the middle of Newton centre.We went without a reservation and sat at the bar. The food was perfect in every way which does not happen frequently and when it does – it is a great experience. The cavatelli was outstanding. Same with the porkchops. The deserts were great too. The staff were attentive , and at the same time knowledgeable about what was on offer. “I can't say enough good things about my experience! From my online booking experience (love being able to book a 11 person reservation online no problem!), to the great seating area (private corner so it felt so intimate even though the restaurant was packed), and last but not least, to the service! Mason was incredible! We had a large party with many people coming and going at different times. Somehow he managed to time our cocktails and food perfectly and handle many different tabs with ease. The rest of the food was good too. Service was good considering they were very busy on a Sunday. They got us a table right away. Ambiance is lacking, there isn't much in terms of decor, it's very noisy , but we didn't mind because it is a very casual place and the food was tasty.“

“Cannot recommend Branch Line enough!!! I organized a baby shower brunch with 18 guests and the entire process was seamless. Great communication prior to the event with clear and reasonable pricing. Parking is extremely easy and accessible. The long table was set and decorated beautifully and the restaurant made custom menus for us. We ate a 3 course brunch family style and everything was delicious and perfect! They were very accomodating for those with dietary restrictions. The staff and service was phenomenal- so kind and attentive. Truly the best brunch I have had in a long time and an incredible experience for our group. I will definitely be returning to Branch Line! “We booked a rehearsal dinner here. Food and service were great. As a former function manager, the head chef was very unprofessional. He should not be the main point of contact to book a function. My mother in law sent a cc for deposit information months in advance to which she received no response. Since she was in charge of the rehearsal dinner I did not check back in until closer to the date. I emailed John to confirm the menu to which his response was "You never sent a deposit" etc. all using accusatory words. I immediately sent over the email my mother in law forwarded me with the deposit information she sent 5 months prior to which she received no response. Had I known there was no response I would have called sooner. I called after John's email and spoke to Eric who was a great help. All was fixed and went well, but please have another point of contact for functions who is equipped to speak with the general public. There were so many ways to go about speaking with the bride and John's approach was not one of them.“

My friends and I had a good time, we ordered desserts. We had Pot de Crème and some kind of donuts. Everything was so tasty. However, our waiter took forever to place our orders each time and to bring our checks. And he was always mumbling something. It was not a great experience. Other than that everything was perfect. There is parking available behind the building. This place is kinda small, I highly recommend making a reservation before you go there.“

“Unexpectedly very good! Dropped a teenage grandchild off at school on a Sunday before the h.s. spring musical and drove off to downtown Waltham to look for a quick lunch. Parked in a nearly empty town parking lot (2 hrs for $2., a real bargain to us New Yorkers). Walked to Moody St., as usual no reservations, just yelp and hope. The first place we came to on the corner was BTT, looked like some decent vegetarian possibilities on the menu, so we went in. Took a couple of minutes but they did find seats for us (& it didn't fill up in the nearly an hour we were there, so not sure why they consulted over their reservations, but whatever). I ordered the avocado toast and added the 2 sunnyside up eggs option, thinking just avo toast wouldn't fill me, but I even told Niko, our server, that it was probably the best or definitely one of the best avocado toast dishes I've ever had (& it's a favorite of mine so I've had a few!). Two thick slices of a good rustic bread, chunky mashed avocado, greens, and then those perfect eggs - sooo delicious! The decaf coffees were fresh and good. Hubs had their black bean burger with fries and said it was really very good. There's an extensive beer menu, the place is pretty big, it's a college town, and we're guessing it's hopping in the evening, especially on weekends. Can't speak to that, but can say we had an amazing lunch!“

It is a small but cozy place with a very friendly vibe, but also fairly busy at certain times.On this visit we had a number of things, with the highlights being the Poutine serving, the Humus plate, the Winter Salad and the Clam Chowder for starters. The appetizers were just phenomenal, very flavorful, especially the Poutine. Equally savory and delicious were the Salmon and Sirloin steak entree’s. The Salmon was done perfectly and the steak was very juicy and mouth watering. For my meal I got the Mediterranean Chicken Risotto. It was DELICIOUS! One of the best meals I’ve had out in a long time!
