I normally don’t like restaurant pizza and hadn’t eaten pizza in over a year because I could never find one that I genuinely enjoyed. Then today I tried the O’ Cheese Parm Pizza here, and wow—I finally found a pizza I absolutely love! The onion rings were incredible too.
What impressed me even more was the service. Every employee was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can teach people how to serve food, but you can’t teach genuine kindness—and this place has it.
The food was amazing, but honestly, even if it hadn’t been, the outstanding customer service alone would make me want to come back. That’s how good the staff are.

“If you’re looking for a sign to go to The Salty Pig, this is it.

At this point, I’m convinced they should start charging me rent.

Jade is the absolute best. She’s one of those people who can somehow make your day better just by being herself. Whether it’s recommending a wine I’d never think to order, talking me through the menu when decision fatigue has completely taken over, or making an absolutely perfect French 75, she somehow always knows exactly what I need. She has this effortless way of making everyone at the bar feel like a regular, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the people who walk through the door. She’s one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back.

And then there is Ty. Some of my favorite visits turn into conversations with him. We can talk about just about anything, and somehow he always has the perfect mix of humor, perspective, and genuine interest. It’s never just small talk. It’s the kind of conversation that makes you forget you walked in exhausted after work, and before you know it, your whole day is better.

Chris is always quick to say hi when he sees me, which is one of those little things that makes you feel welcome before you’ve even sat down.

Ann rounds out my dream team behind the bar. Between Ann, Jade, and Ty, I’ve discovered wines I never would’ve ordered on my own, had more laughs than I can count, and have never once felt like just another customer. Whether I stop in early or after a long day at work, they always make me feel like I’m exactly where I should be.

Jilllllll and Angela are always happy to commiserate with me about whatever kind of day I’ve had. And in the interest of full disclosure… while I was literally writing this review, one of them popped up behind me and scared the life out of me. I couldn’t have planned that timing if I tried.

Now let’s talk about the food.

I’ve honestly never had a bad meal here. Every single thing I’ve ordered has been outstanding, but if I had to pick a favorite, the beef cheek is absolutely unreal. Every plate arrives with a refined flair that somehow manages to feel elevated without ever feeling pretentious. It’s comfort food that decided to put on a tailored suit.

The Salty Pig has become more than a restaurant for me. It’s where I unwind after work, where decision fatigue magically disappears because someone always has the perfect recommendation, where I’ve learned to appreciate great wine, and where I know I’ll leave happier than I arrived.

To Jade, Ann, Ty, Chris, Jilllllll, Angela, and everyone else at The Salty Pig: thank you for making an incredible restaurant feel like home away from home. You all are the secret ingredient!!!!“

“This is one of my favourite sit down pizza places around Boston. I love the vibe of the place, especially sitting on their outside seating during good weather. The 2 times I’ve been here, both times I was amazed by the things I ordered. To add, I’m a vegetarian too, and the pizza I tried this time was the eggplant pizza, it was so good!! We had the Mushroom and Sauceech Pizza, Veal Parm, Eggplant Parm, Fried Chicken Sandwich... I did the Side of Angel Hair with 1 Sauceech and 1 Meatball. The sauce is Amazing!! Fresh, Homemade, San Maranzano Tomatoes make it sweet. Just like I've had in Italy.

“This restaurant is what the definition of a hidden gem is. The food is fresh, delicious, exactly what you look for in a great slice of pizza. They have many options, including burgers and subs, which all are made fresh to order as well. The prices are also reasonable, but what makes it stand out more are the specials they have which make the meals 10x more affordable for a solid

“I’ve been coming here my entire life 25 years old, but I had the best experience so far as in this week the pretty woman managers has always had their neck out for me and then Nick the shift lead really helped me out with a coupon despite not being valid or something like that, but since I came in Twice earlier that week. I got the coupon at New England fan Fest in Swansea mass from D’Angelo’s customer service rep. They were able to give me a 20% discount not the full coupon and Elijah did whatever it took to help me out awesome staff. “This was my first time here. I wanted to try the handmade pasta so I ordered the spaghetti with shrimp in white wine sauce. First off, though I've only been to 2 or 3 places in the North End, this was better than anything I've had there thus far. I walked in on a Sunday night and got a seat in this small but charming place right away. I'm no expert on decor but to me it was like a balanced combination of rustic and modern with the brick wall and what looked to me like wooden wine boxes built in to a part of the wall juxtaposed to the velvety green stools splashed with black behind the counter. I noticed that there was a real flower placed in water on each table, as well. A small lit candle might have been even better, as it seemed like this is a place that couples like to go. There were two or three pairs affectionately focusing on each other. I can see why. Even though there's no privacy because it's very small, it's a cozy little place in very liberal Somerville. You can be yourself and not feel like others are judging. After I sat they brought out a large glass bottle of water, which was cool, that way I have no issues getting more if I'm thirsty. My order was done in like 5 minutes, even though 2 or 3 couples were waiting for there pizzas to come out. The pizzas are obviously a draw. They looked good as they were brought out. The pasta dish I ordered was perfectly cooked and the sauce was flavorful. I don't know if I had to order bread, but I wish I had some to sop up some of that sauce. I thought the dish could've been enhanced by a little salt and pepper along with a little crushed red pepper, since I like some heat, but I wanted to give the dish a chance as is. I have to say that many people would enjoy the dish as is, and I did as well. It was probably the best pasta I've ever had. This one woman was raving about it. She joked about opening her own place and stealing the chef. The portion was just right, too, even though I thought maybe one or two shrimp would've balanced out the ratio of pasta. You know what, I think that still works because to me the pasta was the star of the show. Giving you the chance to simply enjoy twirling that pasta covered in that sauce with the small variety of (grape?) tomatoes without a piece of shrimp seemed intentional, not profit driven. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off, not with pasta that good.

As I said, I've eaten here one time, but I'm definitely going back. When I left I felt like I wanted to make it a regular thing. I spent 40 bucks (my meal was 30) and wasn't left feeling regretful. This is sort of like a hidden gem, though it's right on Broadway Street in Ball Square across from the green line in Somerville. It's a chill, comfortable but romantic atmosphere with an elevated feel and food that'll leave you satisfied. That's not an easy find from my experience. I've been disappointed by a lot of food in Boston but this was not one of those times. I'm eager to try the other things on their menu. And the service was beautiful, too. This place is doing it very well. Check em out.“
