Despite her many tasks in her managerial position, she still takes the time to weave through all the tables and genuinely interact with the familiar faces of return guests to really give the welcoming family feel at this locations. She is always smiling, despite the array of different situations showing from afar to each guest that everything is running smoothly from in front of house to the kitchen staff. She's an asset to the Fuller Family Group the and sky limit for this one.“

“Had a wonderful meal at Gojo—the combo veggie and chicken platter. It was full of flavour and beautifully displayed. The food came quickly and the service was great. The restaurant owners were warm and friendly too. This was only my second time trying Ethiopian food. It’s different from anything I’ve had. Eating without utensils may take some practice. I’d go back, and I certainly recommend it.“

We opted for the lamb shank with polenta. The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the polenta was creamy with a delightful texture. The duck tagliatelle was freshly prepared and remarkably tender; it is definitely a dish suitable for sharing. The flavors were rich and delicious. The warmed beet salad with blood orange and mascarpone was a surprisingly delightful combination for the palate. We finished with the ricotta zepole in a caramel sauce, and we were bursting at the seams with leftovers. Four diverse plates were offered at an exceptional price point. I intend to return.“

“Eadha bakery worker co-op is a wonderful big shop located at 577 Ellice avenue in the West End only a few steps from the University of Winnipeg main campus. This is an awesome place to go to for fresh baked goods, including scones, pizza, twists, cookies, and all other baked delicacies. The staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. Service was excellent and the pricing was fair. Great place overall. Awesome vibe. There’s free parking in the back. I highly recommend.“

“Have not eaten at a Meltwich since pre-pandemic when it was located in Wpg Square. Did not disappoint tonight. Husband had the Southern Fried Chicken Melt it was to die for. Saucy and with a little kick. I had the Philly Cheese steak was quite good. But I like mine saucy would have been amazing with a horseradish mayo on it.
Fries were really crispy but not alot of flavor on their own. But still quite good. Probably quite delicious in their Poutines.
Sorry for the half eaten food pics, just tells you how much we were enjoying them.

Cautionary notice they come out piping hot. I would suggest a knife and fork for the Philly Cheese Steak as it comes piled high with stuff. But when its that hot you're either waiting for it to cool down or burning your fingers off as everything falls out with each bite. Knife and fork does the trick so you can savor it all together without risking a burnt lip or tongue 😉“

Caution if feeding children: small bones in chowder. For me, it was no issue. Fish has bones..lol and with the price and portion, I wouldn’t deduct points for that.“

“Visited for the first time and was very impressed. Our server was a delight, the wait for food wasn't long at all and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the chicken pot pie and it was divine. Friend had the fish and chips and gave it 2 thumbs up! The atmosphere is very laid back with a mix of traditional and modern. Pricier but the food and the vibes make it so worth it. The ONLY issue - I am a wheelchair user and it was extremely difficult getting in and out of the restaurant. Also the tables are definitely not designed to have a wheelchair under it. 9/10 will visit again!“

“We recently had a very good experience at Original Joe's. Our server Rebecca was friendly, attentive and gave us very good service. Mid way through dinner, we noticed a patron outside the restaurant that needed help right away. We flew out of the restaurant along with another server named Tiara and a male bartender who's name we did not catch (sorry!)
The patron received the help they needed quickly, with care and professionalism and we were really impressed with how the whole situation was handled.
After the patron was taken care of, Tiara came to our table and thanked us for assisting and said the manager wanted to comp an item on our bill as a gesture of gratitude. That was completely not necessary, but they insisted. We were wow'd by how everyone worked quickly to resolve the situation and that they came over after to talk to us at our table.

“I don’t do this often. But every once in awhile you meet someone that just stands out. One where you wonder how you’ve gone this far in life without knowing this person. I found one of these people at the most unexpected place. My wife and I really enjoy authentic Ethiopian food. We enjoy good food, love meeting new people, love a great experience, and this place…. Has it ALL!!!! Merkato Restaurant!!!!! WOW!!! What a place. We’ve been going there as often as we can for about a year now. From the very first time Sam (the owner) treated us like he’s known us for years and made us feel right at home. He went above and beyond to make sure our experience was second to none. He succeeded. We’ve gotten to know this man quite well through our visits to his restaurant. The food is absolutely fantastic but his friendship is the highlight. The great food is just a bonus. I strongly recommend anyone to take the time and check this place out. Get to know Sam. He has a heart of gold and it’s an absolute blessing every single time. Keep it up Sam!!! “I'm from Saskatoon. A couple years ago, I was going to a show at the Burt with a friend who took me here. It was all the right things, so I went back again on my own, the next time I was in town for a show.

It's always busy on show nights. I had a broken leg (still do!) and I didn't want to sit on a high stool. Despite the crowd, space was made for me at a regular table.

Service was fast and friendly. I didn't feel rushed to finish and make room for other patrons. The food was tasty and it was a large portion.

The bathrooms deserve a mention as they are very large, accessible, and clean.

It's a great spot for pub food downtown, whether you're on your way to a show or not.“
