“Absolutely stunning is all I have to say about my husband’s retirement cake! Denise worked around my own idea and created a one of a kind, personalized cake. She is so friendly and inviting and really wants to produce a cake that will stun your guests. She answered every text and never made me feel like I was bothering her. “I stopped by Nutmeg Palace for the first time today and was impressed. I tried their French toast coffee (hot), and it was delicious, balanced with just the right amount of sweetness.

It’s a small, locally owned spot run by a husband-and-wife team, Matt and Mattie, who genuinely care about creating a healthier, more thoughtful coffee experience. They source their beans from a small-batch roaster in Pennsylvania and use real maple syrup as a natural and default sweetener at no extra charge. They told me they want to discourage the use of sugar because it’s bad for your health and they learned that from personal experience.

You can tell they believe coffee and tea should not only taste amazing but also support your well-being. Every detail feels intentional, from the quality ingredients to the cozy, artisanal vibe. Even the name “Nutmeg” comes from a horse you’ll spot on their logo, such a charming touch.

I’m already looking forward to trying more flavors. What a gift to have a spot like this right here in Hedgesville!

I stopped today at Nutmeg Palace’s door,
And found a place I’ll doubt no more.
Their French toast brew, so warm, so deep,
Struck perfect balance—rich yet sweet.

Each sip revealed a thoughtful art,
A crafted cup, a mindful heart.
No syrup false, but maple true,
That lent its grace to what I knew.

A husband, wife, with gentle aim,
Have built far more than just a name.
They choose each bean with earnest care,
From small-batch roasters, rich and rare.

They hold a faith that drinks can be
Both joy and quiet remedy.
Each detail placed with purpose clear,

Really nice people, delicious food, and good prices! If you’ve been craving a steak and cheese sub, you definitely need to try Rocky’s.”

“Order here twice a month and sometimes more. If you order during the week the staff and food is great and have never had an issue. If you order on the weekend you get less food (for me) and have made mistakes on my order (left off the tomato, lettuce, or cheese etc.) They use quality meats and a variety of cheese. The bread is fresh but have had a stale sub roll from time to time. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. The soda machine is clean and so is the location. Sub shop seating.”

“Good morning. My wife and I visited the Spring Mills location yesterday.

The food was actually very good and the service was excellent. The cocktails were well made and the menu had a good variety of options. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

One small detail stood out, though, and it’s really about attention to presentation. I noticed the restaurant uses nice quality paper napkins, which was a pleasant touch, but the silverware didn’t match the overall quality of the dining experience.

Considering the menu prices ($18–$35 per entrée) and the quality of the food and service, I expected sturdier and better-maintained utensils. The fork at my table was extremely thin, scratched up, and looked worn to the point that I couldn’t tell if it was clean or just heavily marked. It simply didn’t match the otherwise good experience.

This is a minor detail, but small things like that can affect the overall impression of an otherwise very good restaurant. With the quality of food and service you’re offering, upgrading the silverware would help the dining experience feel more consistent with the rest of the presentation

“Food was fairly good. Ham and cheese omelette was plentiful. The mixure of ham and cheese had a slightly unappealing, slippery mouthfeel. Breakfast potatoes were spot on for my taste. Service was regular. However, void of personality. No problem because I was there to fuel my body. Not be entertained or socialize. Must mention most tables were occupied creating a heavy workload. All things considered I gave a 30% tip.”
