“I stopped by Nutmeg Palace for the first time today and was impressed. I tried their French toast coffee (hot), and it was delicious, balanced with just the right amount of sweetness.

What makes this place even more special is the story behind it. It’s a small, locally owned spot run by a husband-and-wife team, Matt and Mattie, who genuinely care about creating a healthier, more thoughtful coffee experience. They source their beans from a small-batch roaster in Pennsylvania and use real maple syrup as a natural and default sweetener at no extra charge. They told me they want to discourage the use of sugar because it’s bad for your health and they learned that from personal experience.

You can tell they believe coffee and tea should not only taste amazing but also support your well-being. Every detail feels intentional, from the quality ingredients to the cozy, artisanal vibe. Even the name “Nutmeg” comes from a horse you’ll spot on their logo, such a charming touch.

I’m already looking forward to trying more flavors. What a gift to have a spot like this right here in Hedgesville!

I stopped today at Nutmeg Palace’s door,
And found a place I’ll doubt no more.

“Hashbrowns have a good buttery flavor with good crispy texture that I enjoyed. Irish omelette was good. My coffee cup ran empty which put made me sad. I managed to grab a few of my wife's fries which were nice and tender. Reminded us of a diner back home.”
