The servers were so kind and welcoming. We order sushi and hibachi and I ordered a lychee martini. Everything came out amazing. My mother and I were so impressed we are planning our next visit“

“This is my favorite poke bowl place! The food and toppings are fresh and delicious! The fried tofu is so good. They have a small staff, so if it’s at all busy, you might have to wait a while. But it’s so worth it!

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.“

“I got the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was rich. The slices of pork were fresh, juicy, tender, slightly sweet, and abundant. There were at least 6 slices in that bowl. The assortment of vegetables and narutomaki added unique, delicious tastes and textures to the dish. Their food presentation is perfect. You'd have to see it to believe it. I went with their sushi special offered with finer cuts of fish and was impressed with the selection. I also tried their truffle shoyu ramen and did not think it was that great. The egg which should be one of the best parts is not properly prepared. The broth just felt lacking and not rich in flavor. They gave a lot of noodles but did not find them to be very tasty. It was my fault because this is a sushi resturant and ramen is not their speciality.“

The Women at the register are happy and efficient.

There is an unmistakable tension between the hispanic sous chefs and the main guy back there (Friday) which some may not care about. I am not trying to sound too woke and liberal. I am a foodie. In the style of nothing being hidden, somebody needs to take a joy class, or at least see it as good for business IMHO. I used to serve food in a monastery so I realize the bar is set high for me, but we would let the Donny and Debby Downers take the night off if they brought this energy into the kitchen.

Not the review you thought would happen. The food is amazing! I am not exagerating though. If I come to the door again and see the same tension-to include proximity scowls, then I’ll probably wait until another night and get a 5 Guys burger next door.

However, after checking three times, two boxes were not ready for us to go until 40 minutes… At home, two items were tasted average. Well, DCGourmet now endorses a third sushi joint in the DC area, vs previously only two. A friend invited me here, and I am so glad we went! Lovely, calm and clean atmosphere plus super fresh and artistic, symphonically harmonious sushi. I even loved the miso soup, which is an item I usually skip, but took a chance this time. It was hot, flavorful, DELICIOUS, and unlike any miso I’d ever had before.

DC area sushi usually disappoints. I assure you this place pleases to the nines. It has 4.8 stars for good reason. Come see for yourself!“

“Horu Sushi is the best sushi in a large radius, highly recommend to anyone who loves sushi. The eel roll is my current favorite. It’s the best vendor in Le Fantome Food Hall and we are so spoiled to have this level of taste in our neighborhood.

You can even go for happy hour at the bar and eat the sushi there with your drink!

They have good Miso soups to go and they have mastered their packaging for carry-out. There’s a few tables outside where I often enjoy my food outside but whenever I’m there closer to 3pm the inside of the restaurant is barren.“
