Waffle with rum-butter sauce and sugar crusting was way too sweet. Waffle was perfect. But I should have known better. This is a wonderful venue. Coffee is superb. Wished staff had checked mugs more often. Overall, this is one of those great independent “mom and pops.” It’s a happy place. I had a view into the kitchen. There was a lot of hand-washing and cleaning.
We had a great breakfast at Olde Town. I had the Biggins Breakfast potatoes. Warning: Only order this meal if you are famished, or plan to take some home! Wonderful sausage gravy over home fries. Perfect over easy eggs. Delicious. Susie had the avocado toast. Unique over English muffins (ask for a sharp knife), very fresh toppings with generous feta cheese. We were very pleased with this small restaurant in downtown Mount Airy. Our wait was only about 5 minutes on a Saturday around 11:30am. All of the staff were friendly and appeared to work well together to keep things flowing smoothly. My husband had an omelette and I had the handmade fried chicken steak with sausage gravy. We both enjoyed our meals. If the opportunity arises, we would go back to this great breakfast stop.
