“Just passing through and found Boxcar 40, what a cute little place! Our server told us that he was new but he did a great job! We started with nachos as finished with boxcar burgers and fries. They had some yummy sounding desserts but we were too full to give them a try. Everything was tasty, only change we would make would be to the nacho cheese, it had a good flavor and was hot but was very thick.“

“I have been to this establishment since I was old enough to drink. However never with the intention of ordering food. My first visit to to Oasis under new ownership was a welcome surprise. Not once have I had a bad meal here since. If you get the chance order the caprese Grilled Cheese. Being a lover of buttered bread and cheese I had to order it, all though some of the ingredients were suspect to me. It has cranberries or crasins on it and I was taking them off when Steve the owner asked why. I stated that I was not a fan on top of the fact who would ruin my melted butter and cheese with a cranberry. He asked me to try it with an open mind and give a honest opinion. Needless to say trust the chef. Its amazing.“

“This place was a random find driving through from assateague to chincoteague, but thankful we found it! They sat us quickly, food was delicious and reminded me of my Nana’s cooking. If we ever came back to this area we would eat here again!“

“Love this place! Sweet service and good simple food. Four tables plus counter seating so plenty of room to eat inside and watch the Andy Griffith show or other old TV shows. Cheese steak is very good, fried chicken is great. Daily soups, homemade desserts and salads including deviled eggs are available. Ice cream hand scooped and milk shakes! My only wish is for fountain sodas instead of bottles. Nice tv/movie decor mixed with local antiques.Vegetarian options: Many salads, grilled cheese, etc. Not a vegetarian menu per se but would be possible to find options that meet your needs. The owners are very accommodating and would probably readily adjust foods when possible to make vegetarian but not vegan/ gluten free.Parking: Huge parking area. Often visit with truck and trailer with no problem finding space to park or turn around.Kid-friendliness: Kids would love the place: funny tv, cartoon characters, grilled cheese sandwich and ice cream.Only opportunity for a teachable moment would be the fake handgun on a sign or the maybe the life-size Clint Eastwood painting.Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is at ground level with a large concrete pad at the entrance. Would be easy for patrons in wheelchair to enter and the large round tables would be comfortably used with a wheelchair.“
