Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe Reviews
it's the best restaurant in the DC area by far.
Literally my favorite restaurant in the world. I have been going there since they were in their previous location in College Park, and the food has been consistently amazing for these last 20ish years. Their menu offers extensive options for omnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans alike, with the flexibility of omitting fish sauce from their Burmese dressing. If you like bitter, complex flavors, you HAVE to try their green tea leaf salad.
There is a little something for everybody.

Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe offers high-quality food at a reasonable price. The restaurant serves unique eastern dishes, including Burmese cuisine, with flavorful and crunchy salads, such as the egg roll salad. Other options include curries, noodles, and stir-fries, all of which are well-received. The Sunday special, slow-cooked dark chicken, is a must-try, along with the fish in tamarind sauce, which is tender and delicious. Customers frequently praise the generous portions and delicious flavors, including a popular coconut noodle soup that many find memorable. The staff is friendly and helpful, often recommending dishes, and the restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian options, with the option to substitute tofu for many dishes. Many visitors appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, and some have traveled hours just to enjoy the food, finding it reminiscent of childhood memories. Overall, Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe is known for its tasty dishes, good service, and reasonable prices.
