“We were staying at the Sheraton, so this was very convenient for us. The first night we were there we went to the bar for a couple drinks, the bartender was very friendly and she made a nice strong drink. On night number two, we went back to the bar, the drinks were great again, so we decided to have a little late night food. The wings were great, nice and crispy and well seasoned, the crab stuffed mushrooms were small and lacked flavor. We had the same bartender, who again was extremely fun to talk to. All in all this is a good spot if you are traveling and staying in the area.“

“This is a chill lounge for the older crowd. I've been going here on and off since I was around 25-26 due to the fact of the maturity of the crowd and the drinks are very nice as well. There's often a DJ but some music is usually playing otherwise. Ms. Donna and Mr. Chuck has been serving the community for many many years ?? providing a safe haven for you to come out and enjoy yourself. Probably time for a little upgrade but overall it's a very comfy lil spot ??.“

“My friend and I visited this lounge for the first time last month. It is a BEAUTIFUL lounge. A great atmosphere and gorgeous ambiance. The bartender was very nice. However, our experience could have been better for a couple reasons: First, a lot of the items on the food menu were unavailable! Maybe the lounge was waiting for a food inventory delivery? Who knows? My friend tried to order three food items off the menu, and for each item the bartender said “I have to check with the kitchen to see if we have it!” They didn’t have the three items. My friend settled for the steamed shrimp. 🤷🏾‍♀️ My second and last issue/complaint: We both ordered a delicious pink martini-style drink (I forgot the exact name). The drink was good but it was mainly juice/sugar/grenadine— it hardly had any alcohol. It tasted like we were drinking a really good pink lemonade beverage lol. I will give this lounge another chance and most likely several more chances because it’s near my house. They should just stop skimping on the alcohol and have most menu items in stock!“

“They open at 6 a.m. and they close at 2 a.m., but be there before 1:40 am. They tend to close early due to regulations and fines. Don't show up at 1:50 am. Trust me, you won't get served!!! Also the store tends to be busy early mornings and Sundays.“

“Great decor, music, I like the margaritas they already have mixed, perfect location to walk to after an event at Hippodrome as we did (and I have many great memories of this club back in the day when it was under different ownership as well). I was really impressed with the level of the music! It bumped loud enough that your body felt it and kept you dancing but low enough that you can talk to people and still hear each other so it's the perfect mix. Because of this I will def be coming back soon since it's a spot to both dance AND talk (which is actually very hard to find). Only 2 things. 1.needs a coat check 2.led lights were dope but the whites made it a little too bright but I know they're color changeable and dimable so it might just have been the settings while I was there and not an every day thing but I wished it was a little dimmer.“

“Bertha's Soul Food Bar & Grill hit my aunts South Carolina Soul and my South Bronx Soul at the same time as we traveled through Baltimore for a business meeting. Auntie saw the collard greens and they was cut wide and her Bronx side eye made her look suspicious. Her taste test brought out her smile. And the bust down went down. Her side of crispy fried chicken complemented her plate of Turkey Wings, collard greens, sweet potatoes and yellow rice. As I am doing this review 2 weeks later I am feeling like jumping on the 95 South on the 3.5 hour drive to get our same dishes. I had 2 pieces of Fried Catfish, mac & cheese, broccoli.
I didn't leave anything on my plates and it was the perfect meal that filled me for the drive back to NYC. Our entire meal was seasoned just right we requested to speak to the chef and seasoner to give our praise.
Bertha's Soul Food restaurant accommodated us and so we certainly did.

“I stumbled into Melba’s on a Friday evening around 6:30 PM, not long after they had opened. The music wasn’t even playing yet when I walked in, but the place already felt welcoming. I sat at the bar and quickly realized it was cash only, so I stepped out to use the ATM. The fee was a bit steep, so I definitely recommend bringing cash ahead of time.

I ordered an $8 drink, which was strong and very much needed—and shoutout to my bartender Tiffany, because she definitely took care of me. That drink was good, okay? After the first one, the drinks kept flowing, and the night really picked up.

For food, I had the lemon pepper wings with fries and ranch. Even though I was already a little tipsy by that point, the wings were really good—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and hit the spot. And somehow, I even ended up with free food, which made the night even better.

Just to be clear for anyone planning to come: they charge at the door after 8 PM daily, so make sure you have cash if you’re arriving after that time. They also have happy hour, though I can’t remember the exact hours—it may be 5–7 or 6–7—but they offer $2 off drinks, which explains the $8 price during happy hour. Also, while the bar is cash only, the food is separate and you can pay for food with a card.

As the night went on, the music was on point—a great mix of old school and new school—and the vibes were just right. I made my way to the back where the dance floor is and fully immersed myself in the club/lounge atmosphere. I came around 6:30 and stayed until about 12:30, and honestly, I didn’t want to leave. I had other plans later, but if I didn’t, I probably would have stayed and danced all night.

Even if you come by yourself, you won’t feel alone for long. As long as you have an open personality and good energy, people will talk to you, dance with you, and make you feel right at home.

I haven’t been on a Monday yet, which is what they advertise for my age range (I’m 28), but I’m definitely planning to check it out. I also heard Sundays are house music, so if that’s your vibe, it’s worth stopping by.

Will I be back to Melba’s? Hell yeah.
