Restaurantji's guide to Wheaton's top Mexican dining experiences.
“Authentic family-owned Taco Truck is the bomb! I've had my share of taco from living and visiting all over the country, so I know a thing or two. I was in McMinnville to visit family and wanted to try this place. We had dinner. I had 2 tacos Al Pastor (my go-to at everywhere I visit) that we're as delicious as anywhere else I've been. At $1.95 each you can't beat the price! I also had a fish taco that was great. It was a little different style than I'm used to, but still worthy of 5 stars. My mom tried a Tripe taco at the suggestion of the owner. She was a little hesitant, but said it was really good. She also enjoyed a fish taco. The radish slices on the side are a nice authentic touch, as is the different home made salsas. We tried mild (green) "regular" hot (red) and "very hot" (orange) and I liked all three... my mom only likes mild. I didn't get any pictures because I scarfed them up so quickly. You owe it to yourself to try this place and get ready for an adventure to Flavor Town! Plus, you are support a family owned business when you eat here.“
“Combined Taco Bell/KFC. Every time I've been the restaurant area has been clean and not super busy. Drive through service is prompt. The one thing I don't like is that the hot sauce packets are not freely available in the dining room. You have to ask for them when you order, and last time they only gave me four pitems. for three items. Note: they do a good job of advertising the vegetarian options and the prices are very good, especially for dollar-menu type offerings.“
“Service was fine, am not picky when it comes to fast food, no reason to expect anything, as long as they took my order and gave me my food, am fine with it. 5-stars~All I wanted was the Nacho Fries because there great. They prepared it extremely fast, so I thought it was already fried and left out. Its usually like a 50/50 you get fresh fries when it isnt busy. I get what I get, I don't usually get picky about a fresh batch, unless its soggy.Surprisingly, the fries was burning hot and crispy, right out the oil, it even burned my mouth (Only becuase I didn't expect it to be such a fresh batch). I was absolutely satisfied and it was beyond perfect this time around. Its what all french fry lovers dream of, fresh out the oil, crispy to perfection goodness. The nacho cheese of course compliments nicely. Great job!I don't expct another perfect batch, but I love the Nacho Fries! Am a fan~“
“Nothing much to say about Chipotle it's a sure thing, food is fresh, they make it just the way you want it, just go there when you're really really hungry because the servings are big. And make sure you try their chips and guac!!Parking: Parking lot is always full because of the busy Costco next to it.“
“From start to finish my meal was delicious! Very attentive to allergies and making appropriate recommendations. The grilled oysters are a delight! Loved the two drinks I had. The loaded potato with the aged ribeye was perfection. The crepes are light and airy and the caramel sauce adds the right amount of sweetness. I visited the speakeasy before leaving and it was such a vibe. I plan to come again to try other dishes and drinks on both menus!“
“The service is stellar! The presentation of the food is beautiful and the taste of everything we had was absolutely incredible. So delicious! The dessert topped off the entire meal! Definitely recommend and definitely will return when in DC. Thank you Victor and his team!“
“Best Mexican food in the area!! Gourmet tastes/vibes for completely reasonable prices. The atmosphere is also awesome, with beautiful lighting, tons of space, and good acoustics for talking.Parking: The parking lot can only hold 6 or so cars, but the large parking lot nearby can hold much more“
“Vera has completely won me over with their exceptional cuisine and inviting atmosphere. Let's talk about the branzino - it's an absolute game changer. Tender, flavorful, and simply to die for. If you visit Vera, make sure to try it - you won't regret it. And speaking of must-tries, their Dios Del Andes y Cedro cocktail is a personal favorite of mine. It's a delightful blend of flavors that truly impresses. And let's not forget about the guacamole - it's fresh, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Whether you're a seafood aficionado or simply looking for a fantastic dining experience, Vera is a must-visit destination. And the service is always amazing.“
“This place is great. La Antigua is my new favorite place for Tamal de Elote (sweet corn tamale) and I also really liked some of the dishes I tried that were specifically from Guatemala. Beers start at $3.50 (no happy hour) and there are lots of good appetizers for under $5.“
