“We were in town visiting from Virginia and thought we’d give it a try, as the food smelled amazing as we passed by diners as went by the outdoor seating. We ordered the Chef’s cut steak, which came with roasted potatoes and carrots. DELICIOUS! The steak was cooked perfectly, the veggies were so good I could have eaten them for a meal. We had the triple chocolate cake for dessert, totally enough for two people. It was light, and not too rich. We also suggest the Lunch Pail for a drink. The outdoor seating is just perfect for a date night!“

“Just learned this was originally Park's Diner on Front St. in Waterville!! I ate breakfast there all the time back in 1959 when I was a kid with my dad.“

“Made a reservation here because we liked the idea of a 4 course tasting menu and trying new things. It was nice enough inside but could've looked better with tablecloths and better centerpieces. Not leaving the door to the supply closet open the whole time would've helped atmosphere too. Also, having the bar so close to the table with the server standing at it most of the time, made us feel like we had to whisper to have a private conversation or discuss the food. Server was nice enough but would represent the caliber of the menu better if she dressed in something other than jeans and a tshirt. Also, she forgot our silverware until the second course, when we asked. Food itself was a mix of OK and LOVE, no hate. Some things were absolutely amazing , while others were cooked well but slightly overseasoned. Can't really rate this place on the food though because they do a different menu every day! I would still love to try this place again and give it another shot, just not for a special occasion again, since it was too informal feeling for that.“

“My husband and I visited State Lunch recently and our experience was incredible… literally a perfect night out for us. The atmosphere is great, the bar is gorgeous! We started off with drinks, tried several margaritas, all delicious! Everything we ordered for dinner was cooked to perfection, the food options were unique and all amazing! … the waitstaff was very friendly and the owner makes himself a familiar face.. he makes it a point to stop by to say hello and make sure you’re enjoying yourselves… can’t wait to get back there! “Been a fan for 25+ years and only get a chance to eat there once a year due to living in northern Maine. Always pleasant staff but for some reason today when I asked my wife to stop in and grab me a Big Dave she also got herself an Italian. After paying she saw the Italian special to add a bag of chips and a soda and asked if she could pay the extra and get that and was told no because she had lettuce on her sandwich and that lettuce disqualified the lunch special. Sad that lettuce disqualifies a special but was told no other veggies disqualified it??? Sounds more like someone didn’t want to be bothered and was willing to pay the difference… just .59 cents. Got to do better“

“We do not recommend dinning in here as in our experience the service is far from good.. however the food was great! We will definitely order take out in the future but will not be returning to dine in. The server didn’t understand what my husband ordered (even though it was a beef enchilada) so he just put it in as a taco salad. So by the time he recieved the correct meal the rest of our party had already finished eating. The server didn’t ask if anyone would like a refill or another cocktail.“

“Oh my god, Applebees. I told the waitress and I’ll say it again: Applebees has NO BUSINESS popping off like they did with my steak tonight. The bourbon one. Are you kidding me?? Is Applebees hiring 5 star chefs these days?? Seriously, top 5 steaks of my life, and I’m picky. That was fresh, too. The mushrooms were amazing, and the potatoes were a perfect compliment. Will absolutely return anytime whatever magician was in the kitchen tonight is on again. Seriously, be proud of yourself, whoever cooked that steak. Also our server was a lovely tall lady, the first host we saw was a nice guy with glasses who was pleasant, and second host was a nice tall young man who was quick and smiley. Thank you.“

“The place is very loud but that is to be expected because it is a family joint. The service is good but it can be hit or miss. Last visit the server constantly forgot things so we sat waiting for food that did not come when everyone else had their food and then we had to remind the server (they passed by our table multiple times, so we got the impression they forgot). The server also seemed less organized than many of the others. Ordered steak medium rare and it was unevenly cooked with some parts medium rare and others well done. Other people at the table also ordered steak and theirs was done properly, so some inconsistency with food requests. Otherwise, food is always delicious and portions are enormous, especially salad, which is one of my favorite dishes!“

“Sandwiches are fantastic. We got the steak hoagie and chicken, cranberry, almond wrap. If you can call ahead you won't have to wait so long but they were short-handed with only two people working. Very friendly service, prices are excellent. We will definitely be back again.“

“I love this place. The service is great, the food is delicious and FAST, and the restaurant is always clean. I did down vote the atmosphere a bit because this is the first time I felt like an old lady (I'm 41) because I just could NOT hear our waiter. It wasn't super crowded but I had to keep making the poor lad repeat himself because the background noise was so loud. Overall, I look forward to coming back the next time I venture to Augusta.“
