“I stopped by Bagel Caboose early in the morning during my travels on the island and it was an absolute delight. The shop itself has a wonderfully unique, charming vibe and the staff behind the counter were incredibly cheerful and welcoming. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, and it was perfect crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and absolutely loaded with toppings. It is a fantastic, quick local spot to grab a delicious breakfast and a hot coffee before heading out to explore.“

“Ok I’m not going to give a bad review just because I’m sad to see Henry Viii Carvery gone. It’s very sad. They had AMAZING sandwiches. I followed them from Kennebunkport. So sad. I wonder if it’s the same owner(s). Anyway, I’m hoping this Cafe is going to be a new staple for Kittery. It was closed when I drove by, but I just wanted to say I’M SAD! But good luck to Henry’s. You have some pretty big shoes to fill (and stomachs).“

“The Getty Bagel is such an awesome addition to Portsmouth’s food scene— amazing vibes, great bagels, and a really inspired menu of offerings. That said, a little over a year after opening I think they are still working out a lot of the kinks.

I preface this by saying I have been here several times and have generally only come away eager to return, even after crowded lines and sometimes long waits. However, this Sunday, I went very excited to try their new berries and cream open-faced bagel sandwich, after absolutely loving their fall apple version, but found it regrettably basically inedible. It was advertised as being topped with sliced strawberries and a berry compote but what it came with were sloppy, mealy, clearly previously frozen blueberries, and pale, nearly fermented sliced strawberries.

I ended up sloughing off the entirety of the topping that I bought the whole sandwich for, and even then only ate half. It was really not good.

I wanted to relay this feedback in a less public way without getting in the middle of the Sunday brunch rush, but was not able to find an email address for them and my Instagram messages went unread.

I hope this review finds its way to someone in charge and they can course correct to get back to the truly delicious and inventive offerings that they are known for, and not cut corners to save costs or churn out subpar product.“
