“I am now a local resident, originally from Connecticut and New York City… Just my opinion…The White Elephant is NOT a plush, typical inner city Restaurant that some visiting people from much more populated places are accustomed to. It is, However, a very good convenience store, gas station and restaurant environment located in the western mountains of Maine….literally, in the middle of no where. With that said…It has some of the more “in the Country”…serve yourself kind of accoutrements…and a pretty decent kitchen. The owners make a very respectable effort to provide a decent meal at a reasonable price…in the middle of the Maine woods. Remembering those key words…in the middle of the Maine woods… this isn’t Boston or New York…it’s Strong, Maine…and the humbled expectation should be with that in mind…they do a very good job of making it“
