“We sat at the chef's bar to watch the kitchen action and opted to pick out 4 vegetarian options from the menu. The portions were generous for 2 people. If you are a big eater and like to take home leftovers, you can choose the Chef's tasting menu, because it is difficult to choose from all the menu options. Each dish was so tasty, with layers of robust flavor & texture. The food is very rich and while we couldn't eat like this every day, we thoroughly enjoyed every option we chose. Simple but creative dishes. We also savored an absolutely decadent chocolate dessert, craft beer & an alcohol free cocktail. The music was a great addition to the overall vibe, and the restaurant set up is unique and bar-style downstairs. I'm glad we close to sit on the ground floor and watch the action. There is also an option to sit at a table upstairs in the mezzanine. We plan to return to try other menu options. A unique dining experience. Very nice, attentive staff.“
“Amazing experience. We called to make reservations the day of and they were fully booked but told us we could try as a walk-in so we did. We were very lucky they had three seats available at the bar when we showed up at 7:30pm. The bartender was very friendly and really made sure we had everything we needed. We started with a special for our appetizer, a cod fish mashed potato spread and it was DELICIOUS! My daughter has the seared tuna and she loved it. My husband had the linguini and clams and it was very flavorful. The portions were also pretty generous. My swordfish was also cooked to perfection. We would definitely return. The bar is in a big open lounge area so it was a nice setup. And everyone was very friendly.“
“Arrived early for a meal at the bar. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and his drinks were outstanding. Food service however was the slowest I’ve experienced in a very long time in this region. Took well over an hour to be served our entrees which were not out of the ordinary complicated meals to prepare. Inevitably the food was very good but attention to timing by kitchen staff clearly needs to be addressed.“
“We have been enjoying Olive Cafe for at least 6 or 7 years and have recommended it to everyone we know in or visiting the Portland area. After a long absence mainly due to the pandemic we have been anxiously awaiting our return to see if it was still as we remembered. On this very wet day of coastal flooding and business closures, we brought two of our Boston friends to sample and savor.Happy to find that our two favorite flat breads: ya baba and the Brussels were better than ever. Despite several tries, we have never been able to replicate at home. Also vegan which can be so difficult to find, especially as tasty as these. Our host was typical Portland friendly which makes us want to support. The space is nothing unique but works great for almost any size group. All that said we have to say that the one big disappointment was our order of the Mediterranean platter. While absolutely fantastic, the portion was barely enough for one person as an appetizer at the cost of an entree.Back to the upside, their coffees are terrific. All and all we will continue to be fans and hope for them the best.John and Jon“
“I was honestly really surprised to find a halal spot in the Maine Mall. Overall it’s not bad at all Definitely recommend it if you already in the mall and are looking for something halal to eat. I would say the chicken could use a little more seasoning. The rice was absolutely valid though. Overall a solid spot. People were super friendly nothing much to complain about. 7.5/10“
“Dina's is BY FAR my favorite place to eat in Portland. Whenever I decide to treat myself, I make sure to stop by Dina's and get two Spicy Chicken Shawarma Wraps. The food is so good and you get a lot for what you pay for. I like that the food is affordable. I LOVE that it is SO GOOD. Although the shawarma is my go to, the Saji and falafel are also amazing. Most importantly, the staff have always been incredibly kind to me and I appreciate the small conversations I have with them. I have been to Dina's a dozen times and don't plan on stopping.Vegetarian options: When I first went to Dina's, I was a vegetarian. I was surprised by how good their falafel was despite the affordable price. Highly recommend!“
“Got some takeout from here last night. Ordered a variety of dishes to see how things tasted and to offer my 2 teen kids a few options. It was all fantastic! Ordered the chicken shawarma and beef shawarma sandwiches, gyro sandwich, lamb shank plate, beef shawarma salad, and baklava. They included a bowl of smooth tasty lentil curry on the house. I tasted everything. It was all fantastic. I was particularly surprised on how good the lamb shank was and the large portion they gave, as well as how many tomatoes they put in the salad. The lamb shank was on the bone, not shredded. All of the vegetables were fresh and crisp. Everything well seasoned. Their prices are really fair in my opinion. I’m going back soon. I have to try their falafel and hummus.“
“Without a doubt, this food truck located on the Eastern Promenade has become our absolute favorite. It is our go-to place for a delightful Saturday afternoon lunch. The falafel they serve is simply exceptional—crispy and golden on the outside, while being light and incredibly fluffy on the inside. Each wrap is a harmonious symphony of flavors that never fails to impress us.The soft, pillowy pita bread they bake adds a delightful touch, perfectly complemented by the creamy and velvety hummus. What truly elevates the experience are the vibrant and crunchy fresh veggies that provide a burst of freshness with every bite. The portion sizes are remarkably generous, and if you're feeling especially hungry, don't miss out on their fries—they're a worthy addition to your meal. And to take it to the next level of deliciousness, we highly recommend trying one of their flavorful sauces.Beyond the phenomenal food, the stunning views of Casco Bay make the whole experience even more memorable. There's something magical about enjoying a scrumptious falafel while being surrounded by such breathtaking scenery. If you're in the area, grab a picnic bench and make it a point to visit. You won't be disappointed!“
“Beautiful dining experience with great service. Unfortunately, they ran out of the plate I had chosen to order. However, my second choice was very good. With all that said, it was a little pricey. At the price point, there are some better options, including their other restaurants.“
“What a gem this place is! We've visited twice now and each time have had a different item on their menu so we can try out unique offerings. The portion sizes are pleasing but not overly stuffing, the cuisine is exceptionally well done and not anything like we've had at other places, and the service is just as awesome as the artsy space they've created here. The wait staff is fun and vibrant with a modern vibe, quick and responsive service with a genuine smile. Be prepared to spend about $60-75/pp plus tip depending on your appetite and drink choices. HOWEVER, make yourself aware that there is free parking located in the back parking lot for the restaurant. We hunted high and low for a street spot the first time we went, not realizing this!“
“Revamped dining area and bakery under construction. Great ambiance now, authentic turkish style seating. Food quality and taste is great. Prices are decent, but wish quantity was more. Overall, great renovation by owners and it looks beautiful.“
