“We were there on Friday August 1st for lobster and I ended up ordering a bowl of fish chowder and a fish sandwich. I ended up ordering two more to go of the chowder it was so good!One for my brother and then an extra one for myself. the fish sandwich was amazing so fresh and the tartar sauce! I got it on the side because I usually don't like tartar sauce and it was so good we ate it with fries. Of course the lobsters were amazing also.”

She took time to explain to this uninitiated wine consumer the differences between wines, glasses, and tasting, as well as pairing with foods. Speaking of food, this was also splendid. We started with oysters, which was a first, calamari, pork belly, arancini, and focaccia that melted in your mouth. My main course was the Swordfish with sweet potato puree, fingerling, and swordfish "bacon" jam. This is a silent gem that I selfishly stays quiet for my purposes, but Back River Bistro needs to be visited by anyone who loves a small curated dining experience. Much success to Matt & Corrinna. It is much deserved.”

On a nice day with the bays open to the outside, the place is not loud, and it is full of happy people and also dog friendly (let's be honest, dogs are better than people anyway). The beer: 5 stars! I am a picky beer drinker, I live in Massachusetts and frequent Vermont where there are world class breweries. This beer measures up in quality. I was blown away that they had a Hazy IPA at 4.5% ABV that was as flavorful as the 9% Imperial IPA! In addition to being a beer snob, I am also a pizza snob and the pizza was amazing! It took about 10 - 15 minutes. 5stars on the pizza. Lastly, the people at the ordering counter were super friendly and knowledgeable. Note: we were there on a weekday. It was pretty busy, so weekends must be insane. It is well worth it, if you are visiting the area, be sure to check it out.”
