“When visiting Maine two years ago, my husband and I were looking for gluten free restaurants, which can be quite the chore. After reading the reviews for Shannon's, we drove to Boothbay and couldn't believe all the gluten free options. We ordered more food than we needed because there were so many options. Everything was fresh and delicious. Seriously, gluten free onion rings! During that trip, we ate there twice and twice again the next year. We are looking forward to next year's trip and more Shannon's food. In addition to the food, the staff are warm, welcoming and friendly and make you feel like a neighbor instead of a tourist. We are huge Shannon's Unshelled fans!”

I don't eat steak often, so when I do, it makes sense to get the best, and Paul's definitely serves it. Pair it with some great wines, and a lovely evening is enjoyed by all. “My wife and I have been searching high and low for a top-shelf dining experience in Maine since we arrived. Today, we drove 2-1/2 hours from Bar Harbor to Wiscasset to eat at “In a Silent Way.” It exceeded all expectations. James Beard-level food and wine. From the oysters to the steak tartare and raspberry panna cotta, everything was magnificent. Well worth the drive. Confident sharing, In a Silent Way, is the most elevated food in Maine. And lovely service as well. Gushing.”

They sent us a gift card in the mail so we can give them another chance. The customer service is greatly appreciated!! We look forwarding to coming back to use the gift card and give the restaurant another shot.***

Really disappointed in our experience at the Monstweag this afternoon on Mother’s Day. We made a reservation for 3pm. We left at 4:38 and our appetizer hadn’t even been started yet. We spoke to the waitress and after learning our app hadn’t been started, we requested the bill and left. We were told it would still be an hour before we got our appetizer and we had three very young extremely hungry children. The server was apologetic but we were not offered a concession, discount or anything (we had ordered 6 drinks at this point) for the extraordinarily long wait and lack of communication about it. I don’t normally expect anything like this but I was frankly blown away at the lack of communication or accommodation considering the circumstances - on Mother’s Day nonetheless! We’ve been to Monstweag several times in the past and always had a good experience. This was out of character for this restaurant and really disappointing. We left deciding where to try to get a pizza to try to get some food in the kids, knowing it would be too late to get a reservation anywhere else on Mother’s Day. I debated whether to write a review but I do think after an experience like this management should receive honest constructive feedback. It was a disappointing experience to say the least.”

And the view on the outside deck was magnificent! We enjoyed a beautiful sunset while enjoying our anniversary dinner! This was our second time visiting Boothbay Harbor and our second time dining at Coastal Prime! We will definitely come back our next visit!!Would highly recommend”

“Let me put the cart before the horse and tell you this was one of the best, if not the best, experiences I have had at a restaurant. Corrinna was lovely. She took time to explain to this uninitiated wine consumer the differences between wines, glasses, and tasting, as well as pairing with foods. Speaking of food, this was also splendid. We started with oysters, which was a first, calamari, pork belly, arancini, and focaccia that melted in your mouth. My main course was the Swordfish with sweet potato puree, fingerling, and swordfish "bacon" jam. This is a silent gem that I selfishly stays quiet for my purposes, but Back River Bistro needs to be visited by anyone who loves a small curated dining experience. Much success to Matt & Corrinna. It is much deserved.”
