“Best place to eat in Southport hands down. Always get the lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. It is the best lobster roll in Maine! The views are incredible and always talk a walk down by the water. Always a must when in town. Never has been overly crowded so service is always fast when we go in.”
“Omg such an amazing experience if you get the chance to go do it you won't ever forget it. The owner and his family are so very nice and came around and made sure every guest was ok and provided refreshments when needed. We had such a great time the meal was absolutely amazing then we took a small hike around the island to work it all off.”
“I had dinner at this restaurant while visiting Wiscasset over the weekend on a recommendation from family who lives locally, we actually went twice!! So safe to say we were fans! The decor and surroundings themselves were so homey and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, I am dreaming about the Haddock sandwich still! Truly the only complaint was the size of the salads which a few members of our party ordered was slightly disappointing. But they said that the flavor was fantastic and the shrimp they added was big and delicious! We also had the crème brûlée for dessert which I am also still dreaming of and probably will be for a while!! The service was fantastic, we absolutely loved our waitress! The whole atmosphere was wonderful; and I am sure we will be back next time we are in town visiting!!”
“This is a great lunch stand with quite a variety of options. We had hot dogs that were delicious with grilled buns and fries. They have all the condiments you could need, and there’s a soda vending machine. They have picnic tables out back. There are a couple of parking spots reserved for patron use. This is a cash only establishment, but there’s an ATM on site, if needed.”
“Booked 2 rooms last minute and so glad I did! This is a waterfront older hotel. Our rooms were spacious, outfitted with refrifg. microwave and small keurig. Both rooms (king and double) were immaculate! The covered waterfront deck was a comfortable nice size and we enjoyed our breakfast there. The motel dining area has lots of table seating with a Waterview for the included breakfast. Coffee was hot and plentiful. I think coffee/tea is available all day. The hotel is an L shape. Our rooms were the last 2 rooms (222 and 223) at the end of the L closest to the road..so our Waterview was an angle view. I think the owners need to plant a evergreen by the road to give some road screening for 223 room. Rooms 101 to 109 overlook the marina. Rooms on 2nd level look over marina. Rooms 112 to 119 and floors sbove overlook the harbor rather then marina.the rooms. And ours 222 and 223 was an angle harbor view. If handicap and need elevator it is in the lighthouse (see photo) Motel location is about a 7 minute ride to Boothbay Main St.. About a 3 min ride to local grocery store and circle k convenience store. I think it is a great location on the harbor away from the crowds yet very close. I like no restaurant as place is quiet in the evening. If you want to walk the footbridge into town the Boothbay Inn is a better location but I much prefer Brown's Wharf. I will be back to stay again and Kudos to the owners for keeping this waterfront motel comfortable, clean and in great condition.Rooms: Large rooms, comfortable seating. Easy rolling slider to Waterview covered deck. Deck furniture clean and comfortable.Nearby activities: Easy 7 min ride to fishermans wharf in Boothbay harborSafety: Felt safe. Parking well lit.Walkability: A bit of a walk to footbridgeFood & drinks: Breakfast plentiful with indoor dining tables looking over water. Rooms have micro, refrig, and small kuerig with Dunkin Donuts pods.Noteworthy details: Rooms spotless. Towels bedding clean. Comfortable. Covered deck great if raining. Beautiful harbor views. Waterfront motel.”
“The sub sandwiches here are probably the best I've ever had. They are so fresh and delicious, the tomatoes taste like they were just picked off the vine, and the dressing is just the right blend of spices. The bread was extremely fresh and delicious . It would've been nice if they had music playing softly as it was extremely quiet, the service was excellent, but not overly friendly.”
“We had such a great time trying the many beers here! My favorite was the Ovens Mouth which is a very unique pepper infused beer. Delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful and the food we tried was also very good!”
“Hidden gem!! Absolutely wonderful place for coffee, tea, cold brew, and a huge selection of treats and sandwiches. Beautiful seating area in the back near the woods. Outside restroom very clean and roomy. This place is amazing and highly recommended!!”
“I accidentally left my purse behind at the Bred in the Bone brunch restaurant. Accommodating doesn’t even begin to describe the kindness they showed me. They secured my belongings safely and hand delivered them to me all the way from Damariscotta to Freeport ME. They were quick to communicate and empathize with me on such a stressful day. I thought for sure my purse would have been stolen but they were on top of their game and the staff saved me so much financial heart ache with their efforts. Bonus points to owner Beth & Employee Roz who saved the day!Not to mention, I had a fabulous cappuccino @ Bred in the Bone.”
“Wonderful place to grab late breakfast/brunch in Boothbay Maine with friends! The abundance of food was incredible! We thought we were eating Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch altogether! We couldn't decide if the Pancakes and bacon was the best or the large sandwiches and fries were the best!”
“Don't let the looks of the outside of the building fool you. This is a serious brew pub with great beer. Very friendly people. Immediately we felt welcome.”
“Our new coffee shop! Amazing service, fast and friendly. The food is OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Its great finding a place that stays open for the locals not just the vacationers. We absolutely love this place and the staff are what make it.The coffee is always great and its never a long wait.”
“Love this place definitely a great little brewery to hit when you're in town!! They started selling BBQ, it's ok I'm not a fan of Carolina style BBQ but then I'm a born and bred Kansas City BBQ fan so I'm pretty picky!!”
“Chefs seeking to create within the context of #Maine Coastal Cuisine must respect entrenched expectations while at the same time seeking opportunities to introduce elements of surprise, and occasional open rebellion. Such is definitely the case at Blue, where the playfully inventive talent of Chef Esau Crosby brings unexpected twists to familiar Maine staples such as grilled swordfish and mignonette sauce. On a recent evening, the marinated & grilled swordfish was served with an inspired housemade ketchup based in retrieving the condiments’ pre-Heinz history, while the punchy & peppery mignonette offered fresh counterpoint, rather than drab camouflage, for a half dozen perfectly shucked and presented Robinhood Cove oysters. The music mix in the dining room offered a subtle clue to what was going on in the kitchen, offering an unusual (for Maine restaurants!) mix of jazz ballads from John Coltrane to Billie Holiday turning familiar tunes inside out, thereby making them new again. There was something both slightly sad and slyly humorous about seeing the same ole “Garden Salad" (yawn) listed as a daily "special", while from the regular seasonal menu we thoroughly enjoyed playful riffs on beet salad, here served as a colorful composition with pea shoots, cashews and shaved fennel; and in a second salad, baby greens were brought into perfect harmony with roasted local apples. The wine list was equally as playful. Yes, there were the inevitable California Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Cab Savs (double yawn), yet we were pleasantly surprised by the presence of an excellent Loess Grüner Veltliner and a delightful Argiolas Armentino from Sardinia. With regret, we must report the one sour note for our otherwise memorable evening at Blue, and that is the clumsy performance of the two Grey Havens (triple yawn) Innkeepers, who would be better advised to let the excellent front-of-house staff do their thing unencumbered by their bossy & boorish attempts at conducting, sort of like like beginner tuba players barging into a jam session among seasoned pros. In sum, we will happily return to Blue for as long as Chef Crosby performs at the heart of the mix. As for the Inn, well, the front porch does offer a lovely view of coves and offshore islands. For us, that will be "Inn" enough!”
“We only had dinner here, but it was excellent across the board! Food, service and atmosphere were all phenomenal. We will definitely return when in the area again!Food & drinks: Really amazing food and lovely cocktails!”
“This place is as legitimate as it comes. Mother and daughter been there for 25 plus years doing the same two dishes over and over again. Cooked to perfection. Be sure you go to the right place, the new place around the corner is not bets!”
“This place is the absolute best. The chef is a genius - underrated as far as I'm concerned, as this is some of the most delicious, inspired food in the harbor - if not the best. Plus, the wait staff is always so friendly and laid back. The atmosphere can't be beat. I can safely describe this place as a "haven" - do not miss out on dining here if you have the chance.”
“Food and service was incredible. My partner and I came up to Boothbay for the weekend. We eat lots of khmer and Vietnamese cuisine and we were so thrilled to check this place out! It is adorable, food was authentic and fulfilling, and the staff were so kind. We can’t wait to come back next year and eat here again!! Couldn’t recommend this place more!! Thank you for such a great experience!”
“I've only ever been there for breakfast but it's been consistently good each time! Really cute interior. Small rooms and cozy as you can imagine due to it being inside a house renovated for a restaurant.I recommend the breakfast sandwiches! The fruit cups and bowls are also very good!”
“Husband and I finally returned to Booth Bay, Me after probably 5 years, I must say when you snooze, you loose! I love this area and it didn’t take long to realize it. Won’t happen again! I do remember eating at Karen’s Hideaway and upon arriving at our Campground, we made a bee line the next day for an early dinner. Karen and her husband are the most nicest and kind people!! Hub and I both got large Lobster Rolls, each one with 1/2 pound of meat nestled in a buttered, toasted hot dog bun. Hub had his with light mayo, I had mine naked with drawn butter. We both had her delicious potato salad made with bacon and cheese. Very good hot fries as well. That Lobster was so perfectly cooked and so tender. We both were in Hog Heaven!! We had very little conversation because are mouths were full of lobster goodness. It was fantastic! We got a tour of the live Lobster tanks, Karen’s husband Garry even posed with two lobsters for me, he has the great gift of gab, lucky me! Other than Lobster and Crab rolls, you can get Hamburgers and Hot dogs and dinners. A great road side place to eat, many picnic tables with umbrellas to eat your food. Save yourself the aggravation of going downtown trying to find a parking spot, just pull up and plenty of parking and enjoy the fresh air and a Delish, fresh Lobster or Crab roll. Must try Karen’s, Debbie and Bob, Mich ???”
“The ice cream hut and mini golf are awesome! I've been going here for 20+ years and they always impress! The Strawberry Bash is the absolute best, highly recommend!”
“Gotta say the place was mobbed but we were smart and made reservations ( lobster boat parade) .The atmosphere was great the food was awesome and the wait staff was excellent and they were under great pleasure...”
“Because of the limited breakfast options from Wiscassett, Damariscotta and Newcastle, the Marketplace Cafe is a standout. Great food options at decent prices. Plenty of parking. Right on Rt 1.”
“The international staff used by Spruce Point Inn make a HUGELY POSITIVE difference. they are refined and DELIGHTED to work. They are not loud mouths blasting stupid "So what are we thinking tonight?" in your face. What a great experience!”
“An older place, but comfortable and clean. Nice view. Our meals were amazing! Fresh haddock, and plenty of it, fried to perfection. My mom had scallops and shrimp, and my husband had a margherita pizza. All meals were wonderful. Will definitely go back. The staff were so helpful, especially with my 93 year old mother.”
“The place was awesome,a bunch of us stop in after we saw the lights at Maine Botanical Gardens, everyone was great, nice to talk to, and the food was delicious, thank you ”
“I really like this place. The restaurant is paneled all in honey colored wood and is cozy. Our server came quickly and was very pleasant and nice. We tried the cream of mushroom soup, which was tasty, though more like a mushroom stew than soup. He had the lobster sliders and sad they were fantastic. The bolognese was delicious and a huge portion. He said the fried fish was very fresh. The blueberry pie was great too.”
“Yes, it is not on the 'main strip' in Boothbay... however worth the short walk. We met the chef the night before at Pier 1 Pizza so, yeah - we had to go! Great atmosphere... service was excellent.. we had fish and chips. probably the largest piece of fish I have ever seen and it was delicious! I wish I had taken a picture to share.”
“We had breakfast and 3 dinners during our 3-night stay at the Spruce Point Inn. The food was and service were so good that we didn't have to look elsewhere for our meals. For our dinners we had the vegetarian bolognese, pork chops, littleneck clams (super yummy broth!), calamari, salmon, salad, crab cake, and for breakfast, the lobster eggs benedict was so good. Very enjoyable atmosphere, beautiful view of the spectacular sunsets from the dining room there. Couldn't ask for more, and it was just across the grand deck from our cottage, so convenient.”
“We were really happy that we found and tried Robinson's Wharf. The staff was really friendly, definitely a tight-knit team, helping each other out to always make sure the customers had what they needed. There was not much of a crowd, because this is in the off season - we had our choice of table, which we now understand is not possible at all in the summer. The menu had great options. Everything we had was made there - no frozen foods. We had the New England clam chowder, (generous amounts of clam, bacon and potato chunks, in a buttery broth). We tried the fried artichoke hearts - they were fresh-made, with a light batter and aioli dipping sauce, very tasty. For dinner, we had a lobster dinner (nice size, great cole slaw, and only the corn was subpar, but that's because it's so far off season) and a crispy caprese sandwich (nice rounds of fried and gooey mozzarella, on tasty toasted Tuscan bread) with awesome fries. Our waitress, Alyssa, took lots of her time to share information on the vibe and culture. Great laid-back place, really good food, reasonable prices. Best of all, good staff who genuinely liked being there.”
