“Ports of Italy is one of our absolute favorite restaurants—not only in town, but in all of Maine. We travel throughout the state quite a bit, and few restaurants consistently impress us the way Ports of Italy does. Everything we’ve ever ordered has been absolutely delicious, with the eggplant appetizer being a particular favorite. The atmosphere is equally wonderful: cozy and intimate, yet distinctly coastal and perfectly suited to its setting.

We also have to give a special shoutout to George, our favorite server. He is incredibly kind, genuine, and attentive without ever being overbearing. We genuinely look forward to being seated at one of his tables each time we visit. Great food, a wonderful atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality make Ports of Italy a place we’re always happy to return to.”

“We went to the Salty Stag for a casual lunch and the view was beautiful. Our server Jana (dp?) was helpful and attentive in spite of serving customers outdoors on the patio along with us being indoors. Our meals were very delicious with generous portions. In particular was the amount of lobster in the Lobster Mac and Cheese! So good and too much for one person. ( We ended up taking a huge portion home .) I also recommend the SPI Cooler for a nonalcoholic refreshingly yummy beverage! It's made with 4 different fruits and really hit the spot on a summer day! Finally, we decided to get desserts to go since we were full but wanted something sweet to have later. We got two of the decadent chocolate flourless tortes. They were packed perfectly so when we ate them later they looked as nice as if we had eaten them at Spruce Point! Thanks to this lovely experience we now look forward to returning for a dinner at their upscale Whiteclover dining room! I hope to have the Lobster Thermidor !!!”

“Our group of six enjoyed most of the food. Unfortunately a very loud group of 6 REALLY enjoying their alcohol seated nearby made the atmosphere of the restaurant with a talented musician unpleasant. We moved outside to the deck and that was much more pleasant even though the table for four was crowded. My salad came with sliced oranges with the peel attached (curious) but once I removed the peel it was delicious. My husband’s Caesar salad was outstanding. We shared Tikka Masala and the chef kindly served it in two portions. Those who got the double burger were very satisfied. Unfortunately the scallop main dish was the size of an appetizer and lacked a generous side ($33). We enjoyed the waiter and waitress who were very attentive. We will be back, hoping to avoid rude people who act as if they are dining at home.”

“Fantastic espresso and European milk shakes! Our tradition became getting my daily hit of caffeine and my quad espresso never let me down! It was smooth and just a hint of bitterness that I adore! Highly recommend!!”

“My husband and I stopped in here on a whim while celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary and we were so happy we did. We ordered pumpkin spice lattes- which have REAL pumpkin- a strawberry and cheese danish, a garlic twist, 2 blurry scones and a brownie with vanilla cream cheese frosting decorated so beautifully with violets. Everything was perfect and delicious. Like crazy delicious. Gourmet and priced fairly. The staff working today were both very friendly, patient and good at their jobs. I wish we had more time to explore the shop and order more things to bring home with us, but we had an hour and 45 minute drive home and were in a hurry. We will definitely be back though!”

“1000% run to this place, don’t walk! It’s a must and the best breakfast in town! You might have a small wait during peak breakfast time, 5-10 min max, so enjoy the bay, grab a latte next door and enjoy. Let’s talk about the food, EVERYTHING is excellent! The corned beef hash is unlike anything we’ve ever eaten before and we are now spoiled for life. The chunks of tender and juicy corned beef, with peppers, potatoes, and onions was the best combo together. Thanks for a wonderful couple of breakfast’s!”

“My husband, his friend and I had a fantastic dinner 4 nights ago ... Highly recommended by another friend and we were not disappointed.....the food /service was exceptional...halibut bouillabaisse was superb...I even drank the broth...I didn't care who saw me ..husband and his friend had risotto....all was scraped down to the bottom of the dish Waitress was a 20 out of 10... knowledgeable about menu..also she was bartender..drink was great Dessert was a blueberry cheese cake .melted in your mouth This was our 1st time and won't be our last The chef Karin has such a skill with food .so impressed! If you all want an exceptional meal go to the Boathouse...you won't be disappointed! The place isn't fancy..boaty decor...who cares....the food makes up for it!”
