“First time here, best sushi I've had in awhile. The salmon and tuna melted in your mouth. They have kabayaki but, not traditional. The octopus salad was nice, needed a bit more octopus for the price.
That being said will definitely be back.“

“Was expecting this place to be good based on other reviews but I was blown away with how good it actually is.

Food wise it’s an instant top 10 of restaurants I’ve had in Michigan. I’m not really a ramen aficionado but this was by far the best broth and quality of add ins that I’ve ever had in ramen. Of course we added the chicken Katsu and my wife got the Katsu burger both of which were amazing.

As far as fried chicken goes this is top 5 I’ve had and probably the most crispy which my wife loved. I also added some hot sauce on the side which they make in house and wow it was epically hot. Among the spiciest things I’ve ever eaten and spicy food is something I do have a very high tolerance for. Very good flavor as well but proceed with caution if spice isn’t your thing.

After such great entrees we added a piece of the deep fried cheesecake which is essentially cheesecake Katsu and was also amazing. A wild dessert if you ask me but it really worked well with the crispy breading and the cool cheesecake inside.

Overall no doubt we will return here soon. The interior is laid back and the service was very friendly from the staff. We were there late before closing and everything was hot and fresh and just great. Prices are very reasonable for this type of food. Don’t sleep on this spot - its location is unassuming but it’s a hidden gem in Michigan.“

“This is my go to place in Metro Detroit for sushi. The food is always fresh and the staff is wonderful, they are super kind and sweet. My family and I always order miso soup, gyozas and shrimp for appetizers, and a selection of sushi for entree. The food never disappoints. We keep coming back!“

“My first visit to Kaishin Izakaya in Birmingham was such a memorable experience! I originally came in just to pick up my takeout, but the hospitality was so good that I ended up staying. Tony and Evan were wonderful, and a special shoutout to Thair for greeting me immediately, consistently checking on me, and being incredibly attentive throughout my visit.

The sushi was so fresh, and the spicy garlic edamame was easily the best I’ve had yet. I also had verytasty green tea and was lucky enough to try their matcha ice cream, which was literally a 10/10! Everything from the food to the service made an impression. I already can’t wait to come back and will definitely be adding Kaishin Izakaya to my list of favorite Birmingham spots!“
