“The service was great! The food was simple but cooked right, and paired with the correct dressings/dipping sauces. I don't know why people think that to be a "foodie" you need dishes with a million ingredients! This place does it right! The zucchini fries and homemade dip were delicious, my mom got a salmon salad that looked and tasted great, I got a BLT but now that I know they can really cook I'm going for the chicken cordon bleu next time. Reminds me of the Oaken Bucket in a sense because it's good honest simple but unique! Will be back!“

“Ken and Sissy went around the room and said hello to everyone except my wife and I. All we got was a dirty look from Sissy, and a leer from Ken. No idea why. We've always been polite, and thankful, as well as generous tipping. I can't spend my money where I don't feel welcome. My wife and I will likely never be back.“

The food was great, the service was great, the prices were a little higher than some others, yet I only wish they were open later into the evening.“

I orderd a tasty bacon cheeseburger with fries, which came with fast and friendly service. I recommend giving them a try. Just don't drink the water. If you're a water drinker like me, order something else. It tasted pretty weird. I'm pretty sure it came right out of the tap.“

Offering an extensive menu of American standards prepared to perfection, it also offers Greek fare such as gyros and baklava and shish kabob. The parking is excellent and there are tables outside available for outdoor dining if the weather permits. Close your eyes and pretend you are on a Greek island, or at least in Greek Town in Chicago. The food is that good! Andy, the friendly Greek American owner, knows his many regulars by name. He offers take out, dining in and catering. The hot dogs are Vienna Beef-terrific! “I went here for a late lunch. I heard about this place on Facebook and wanted to come here for the history. It also has good reviews. I ordered the fried chicken dinner which comes with fries, coleslaw and bread. The chicken is very good and exactly what I was looking for. The chicken was hot and fresh. The skin was crispy and not overly seasoned and the meat was moist with good flavor. It comes with a ton of fries but just a little bit of coleslaw. I would have liked less fries and more slaw. The slaw was good and tasted fresh. The bread was also good. It was 2 thick slices of a baguette. It would have been nice to have some garlic butter or honey butter to put on it, (but I shouldn't be eating bread anyway). I only ate the drumstick and wing and took the breast and thigh home.
I ordered the Goulash to take home. It is a generous amount and definitely will be 2 meals. I tasted it before putting it in the fridge. It's meaty and has a good flavor, but it's seasoned more like an Italian pasta dish rather than goulash. It also came with bread.
The staff is friendly and seemed to know a lot of the people there. Lots of local regular patrons.
This tavern was originally a one room, log building for travelers to stop when going to Chicago. I think it would be cool if the interior had an old log cabin look.“

“Came into Bob Evans last night with my family and to say everything was amazing is an understatement. I have seen the cook before her food is always picture perfect. The honey butter chicken is a most try as long as she is cooking. She takes pride in her food and it shows. The manager and our server were nothing but smiles made us feel welcomed. We will definitely be back at night, as long as these same ladies are there. If you want to have a good experience visit this location at night. Seems that mornings are a struggle from our last visit prior to this one.“
