Up until tonight, which is New Year's Eve and also my birthday, this restaurant has been my favorite place to eat. Not only is the food spectacular, but the service has always been perfection...until tonight. Usually, the staff is so attentive, and I never have to remind them to bring anything. I hate to leave a poor review, because it used to be such a solid A+ place. We went this evening and our service was just OK. Nothing amazing. But mediocre. The server forgot a beer that was ordered, but it was not on the bill - so not a huge deal. The food was mediocre too. We ordered a pizza as an app- the flavor was there- but the presentation was sloppy and over sauces. There are way better places for wood-fired pizzas. I ordered a veal dish. El Barzon Restaurante is excellent, with great food and outstanding service. The classic pasta dishes are great, and the staff is friendly and always remembers guests. The managers/owners are welcoming and attentive, and the wait staff makes the whole experience feel warm and well-run. El Barzon is a true gem, a fun place with delicious food. For appetizers, the arugula salad and special guacamole are recommended, followed by the linguine el barzon and the whole grilled branzino del Mediterranean. The lasagna and flan are also enjoyed. Service is timely, attentive, and friendly, with staff explaining the menu perfectly. El Barzon is always a favorite for celebrations, and guests can expect a little dessert and a birthday song. There is plenty of parking in the back.
