Mario's Restaurant Reviews
This used to be a great place to go for dinner but unfortunately recently the service and food quality is not good. We had reservations and still waited 45 minutes to be seated. They were using a limited menu and were still out of many things. The spaghetti was watery and the lasagna was burnt.. yet cold.. table after table complaining and sending food back..
Hoping they can turn it around and get it back to what it once was..
We visited Mario’s yesterday for a catered dinner, but each table was served insufficiently. They refused to provide extra food or offer additional platters, despite our requests. Eight people were at a table, and there was clearly not enough food for them.

Worst dining experience ever. Poor management. Over booked reservations by 100 people. Dinner never arrived in time for the Andrea Bocelli concert and when we complained to management they still charged us a setting fee. Not to mention the valet smashed the front end of my friends car

Mario's Restaurant combines old-world charm with excellent service, making it a standout dining destination. Known as the oldest Italian restaurant in Detroit, it offers five-course meals that provide great value, featuring generous portions including an entree. The restaurant skillfully accommodates dietary restrictions and is ideal for special occasions, thanks to its beautiful atmosphere. Guests have noted the old-school dress code, adding to the restaurant's unique charm, though some felt it could be a bit fancy. There have been instances where leftovers could not be taken away, leading to disappointment. However, many diners appreciate the complimentary bread, relish tray, salad, soup, and side of pasta that accompany each meal. Recent reviews highlight outstanding meals, such as the filet dinner special and the Lobster special, along with attentive service from staff like Phil. With its reasonable prices and discounts, Mario's remains a cute place for a throwback dining experience.
