Maru is a trendy restaurant with a lot of space. It was dead on a Wednesday night. I was able to find paid street parking around the corner without too much hassle. I ordered the strawberry basil lemonade mocktail and found it to be too sweet. The hibachi chicken was good but the rice was a little too salty. I liked the yum yum sauce and the large veggie portion. The service was good.
Excellent sushi spot hidden in downtown Detroit. I say 'hidden' because if you're not from the area -- it's not so easy to find because it occupies the first floor of a business (?) or maybe residential (?) building. Nonetheless, don't give up on your quest on getting to Maru because you will not leave disappointed. Ambiance was great. Service was sloooooow (but the waitress gave us a heads-up as soon as we sat down that it would be, and even thanked us at the end for being patient because so many others had been rude that night).
