Restaurantji's Flint guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“Cocina Mia is a small family owned restaurant that boasts an excellent menu of home-cooked style Mexican cuisine. Not having been to every Mexican restaurant in Flint, I can't definitively say this is the best, but it certainly has to be in the running.Prices are as affordable as they come ($1 taco Tuesdays!), everything is freshly made, and the service is fast and friendly. They do have rather restrictive hours so check before heading out! There can also sometimes be a long line, especially on Tuesdays, but they are quite good at getting everyone taken care of in a timely fashion. This is a lunchtime staple for me and I've never had a bad experience.“
“The server was the perfect combination... Not in our face but made sure we had what we needed when we needed it. She knew the information about the menu and also was knowledgeable about the items on the menu! The food was delicious. I ordered the dos amigos salad... It is a taco salad that has either steak and shrimp or chicken and shrimp. I ordered the one with steak and shrimp and it was amazing! If you are expecting the normal taco salad with too much lettuce and not enough meat? You will be disappointed. If anything, this salad could use more lettuce! But the salad bowl was cooked perfectly. The steak and shrimp were amazing and the combined ingredients like beans, tomatoes, onions, peppers and everything else? The results were amazing! And the decor? Not the same as every other Mexican restaurant.... It was comfortable and unique.I only wish they had a Mexican guacamole... Not just a guacamole dip...This was my first visit, but I will definitely be back!“
“Someone recommended this place and I'm glad they did. The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. I went alone the first time and it was so good that I took my family to eat there the next day and they loved it too. We had beef, chicken and ground turkey tacos/nachos. Good portions and clean establishment.“
“Ground beef was seasoned to perfection, and tasted amazing! The nachos were outstanding! My family really enjoyed sinking their teeth into this delicious meal! Can't wait to try again! They also have good prices! 12 tacos with cheese and a grande nacho for $24, hopefully they start staying open “
“My wife & I tried this place for the 1st time today. The food smelled great when we walked in. Quick & friendly service. We just got tacos but they were some of the best tacos I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Beef seasoned great. Shells cooked perfectly. We will be “
“I prefer the regular taco (chorizo) over any of the other meat options. I really wish they would bring back the fried clucker. The smoked clucker is OK but not a favorite. You can ask for the nacho chips in a separate bowl so the chips don't get soggy. Check this place out and have a tenacity beer.“
“I love food. But when it comes to restaurants, I often find that places claiming to be authentic certainly are but are neither run by nor staffed with good cooks. It is my pleasure to report that El Potrero went ahead and made me the absolute best tacos I have ever had. Salsa verde was delicious, pico was delicious, steak was delicious, and these are the tastiest, deliciously chewiest tortillas I've eaten in my life. Next time I'll try the beans instead of rice-- there will certainly be a next time. Thank you El Potrero!!!“
“A small place with atmosphere. Tacos unlike taco bell or other chain restaurants. Things aren't smothered in cheese or floating in red sauce. I will ask for onions next time though for that added something. The waitress we had was tops! Don't let the location scare you away.Dietary restrictions: I eat gluten-free and could easily find options.“
“I don't know "real" Mexican food like some do. I'm a Flintstone. But as local foods go, Lupe's is very consistent. Always tastes great. It's always hot. Service is prompt & friendly. Price is reasonable even post-covid. And over many years has never gotten an order wrong, unlike a certain spicy chicken place.“
