Been here several times over the last couple of years, it feels like the best place locally to get fresh pasta in GP, especially in the Village/Hill. The food is fresh, flavorful, unique, cooked perfectly, everything you'd expect and want for the cost. They do have a good happy hour that's changed around a few times, it used to be better for drinks and they are ending it earlier at 5pm but it's worth checking out. Pastaio Handmade Pasta is a wonderful addition to the Grosse Pointe dining scene, offering delicious and very authentic Italian food. The space feels warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed with simple clean decor, perfect for a relaxed night out. All pasta is fresh made in house. The menu features large portions with many great options, from fish to sausage and meatball accompaniments. Specific dishes include grilled octopus, chicken Marsala, spaghetti primavera, gnocchi Romano, chicken tutto fresco, and a Langosta lobster scallop special with arrabiata sauce. The pumpkin agnolloti mascarpone ravioli is yummy, and they have the best tiramisu. The house Italian bread with EVOO and Parmesan cheese is good.
The service is very professional, attentive, and accommodating. There is a very nice wine selection and a well-thought-out mocktail menu. The restaurant has a semi-private area in the back which is ideal for hosting and better for conversations. However, when the restaurant gets crowded it can be a noisy restaurant, making conversation difficult. It is very popular, so a reservation is strongly recommended as there can be a wait for tables. The overall experience is beautiful, with top tier ambience, service, and food, making it a special place for a gathering.
