“Food was mid I’d say if you’re looking for a decent place to go with the family for breakfast and are on a budget this is the place. They make the food fresh and it’s reasonably priced for the quality of food they offer. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we got a salad and the angus beef burger with fries. My salad was like any other salad good and simple. My boyfriend on the other hand was not very happy about his burger. Not very flavorful it seems as though there was no seasonings and it was very basic. But! Even thought the burger was a 4/10 rating the price was definitely worth it for what we got. I’d personally go back again to try their breakfast again for sure as I’ve been there before. but I don’t think it’s for a dinner time kind of place to go. If you want a good lunch/dinner just go the china buffet across the street. 10/10 rating for them always. The staff were very kind and friendly and the wait was about 10 minutes or less I’d give this whole experience a solid 4 stars!!! Hope this helps“

I’ve eaten there quite a few times since the new owner took over. Joe ran a good ship. This Gal has actually stepped up what was a good place to eat to even better. The Catfish is great. Had Breakfast there several times too.
The new Owner & Staff are fantastic outstanding service every time I’ve been there.
Very fair priced - good portion’s
And add to that the New Owner has added her touch to the Outside of the building and like her - A Class Act.“

“We went on a Thursday to celebrate our anniversary. I was excited for prime rib, hubby ordered walleye. and we split an oder of fried mushrooms. I am disabled and was pleased to find the entrance level, more than adequate lighting, and plenty of space to maneuver mobility devices between tables. TV screens all around the walls for game watching. I was excited to learn that their sauces and toppings are made in-house. Staff were efficient, friendly, and informed. We don't go out very often, but plan to stop in or grab take-out from here when we are up here in Houghton Lake.“

“I would recommend this restaurant any day of the week except for Monday and Tuesday evenings. I was in there tonight around 7:30 getting dinner with my grandson. it was 7:48. there was a car pull in to do the same thing. it would have been a table of 5 or 6 people coming in but one of the waitresses there took matters into her own hands walked over shut the open sign off then proceeded to walk out the side doors close to the funeral home and tell the costumers that they were closed. I don't see how this is far to not only the costumers or the restaurant owners. it is not the first time I have seen this done in Monday or Tuesday. I myself have witnessed it many others times turning customers away.“

“I grew up in the house next door ( now a used car lot) in the 50’s and early 60’s. I took my wife up there to show her where I grew up and was happy to see the Spikehorn was still there. We stopped in had lunch it was very busy so we ate at the bar. Service was great bartender was friendly and efficient. Food was good . No complaints. I will be going back whenever we are back to Houghton Lake.“

You can tell she works hard and takes pride in what she does. Even when it got busy, she stayed calm, fast, and kind the whole time. She definitely made my experience better—great vibes all around!“
