Super friendly & attentive service. The owner was absolutely hilarious and super nice. The bar is beautiful and it was super cool to hear about the history of the building. Tons of drinks options and overall a MUST STOP bar.
Great fun stop. Smash burgers were delicious and plentiful. Fries were outstanding. Great, attentive service from Monte for every person that came in. If we lived here this would be a weekly favorite
Tristen was great to hang with and so were the other patrons who were in town burning time with an isle royal delay. Thanks for the pop corn Trist!

The Douglass House Saloon "The Dog" is a Houghton classic that has been here since the 1800’s. The bar feels comfortable, like you have been there before, with a beautiful wood bar and lighting that makes you feel like you stepped back in time. It is cash only, which is fun and old school, and the drinks are strong and tasty. The friendly service, good music, and better vibes make it one of the best nights out. The popcorn and the best pickled egg in town are highlights. The grilled cheese with bacon jam is delish, and the smash burger is great. The owner is a great bartender with a humbleness you want to support, always friendly, outgoing, and makes everyone feel welcome. Whether a local or just passing through, "The Dog" makes everyone feel welcome.
