Tristan is the best!! We loved this bar. Came in on a Sunday night to grab drinks and play cards - Tristan was the only person working but did not let anyone go unattended and was so friendly and funny. Loved hearing about the history of the bar and how he and his mom co-own it. A must stop in houghton
Stopped in for lunch ordered a black and blue burger also the duck bacon wontons with chili sauce. Delicious food at a great historic bar cool place check it out
Have to have the pickled eggs. Its a must stop everytime we are in town. Great atmosphere and always great beer.

The Douglass House Saloon "The Dog" is a Houghton classic that has been here since the 1800’s. The bar feels comfortable, like you have been there before, with a beautiful wood bar and lighting that makes you feel like you stepped back in time. It is cash only, which is fun and old school, and the drinks are strong and tasty. The friendly service, good music, and better vibes make it one of the best nights out. The popcorn and the best pickled egg in town are highlights. The grilled cheese with bacon jam is delish, and the smash burger is great. The owner is a great bartender with a humbleness you want to support, always friendly, outgoing, and makes everyone feel welcome. Whether a local or just passing through, "The Dog" makes everyone feel welcome.
