Mex House is a restaurant in Portage known for its Mexican food and American food options. The menu is described as the most authentic Mexican menu, honest to Mexican culture and reminiscent of the best diners in Mexico City. It also nails classic American diner staples: bacon and eggs, waffles, French toast, and omelettes done right. Breakfast and lunch items are available, including kid friendly meals. The chilaquiles were amazing, and the cafe de olla is delicious. Coffee is excellent, with a generous cup of Joe and quick refills. The people are friendly and kind, and the service was excellent. Prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is great, serene and calm, clean and modern. This is a rare place where Mexican and American food cultures meet beautifully, with real love in every plate. It should be packed wall-to-wall every single day — it’s that good. If you love good food, Mexican or American, this is exactly where you should be.
