“This place is a big surprise. Looks like a dumpy neighborhood bar from the outside. Stuck in a small factory village but the factory is long gone. Not much parking available so we expected it to be completely full.Inside: more room than expected. Nicer than expected. Awesome food (bar food - burgers and fish and enchaldas). This was the biggest surprise. Simply did not expect food this good here. Good beer choices too. A variety of local (Michigan) craft beers on tap. The waitress was a little grumpy, but everyone has a bad day. Service was still very good, but no service with a smile. It was very busy though so she did not have a lot of time to be friendly.Burgers were outstanding and Enchaladas were huge and delicious. Great fries too. Patrons were just normal people having a nice time. Good Folk.Parking: The tiny lot fills up fast, there is some street parking in the little neighborhood. There is a fitness center that is closed at night - not likely to get towed there.“

“Typically I pop in for a few drinks and never order food, it was noticed by management. Surprised I never order food they were dedicated to get me to try the food so they gave me a meal to try!! “I've had the Filet multiple times here and I can't honestly say that it is without a doubt the BEST STEAK I have ever had. The dry age on it creates this amazing bark from the grill and it is ALWAYS seasoned to perfection. I choose Mint29 over any other steakhouse any day of the week.“

From the moment we walked through the door we received spectacular service. Our waitress was incredible and took great care of us. The drinks were amazing as well as cigar selection. “Kinda dark, kinda dingy, kinda dated. It was our first time there, and not planning to go back any time soon. Our waitress seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else. We ordered drinks ( we all had beer ) and then food. The food was good ( corned beef sandwich ). It was a decent size sandwich. “Biergarten is one of our favorite local places! This year they saved my fiancé’s 30th birthday when another local bar could no longer accommodate us last minute. I called the day before in a panic and the owner called her workers to come in a little early, helped me coordinate everything with food, and just went above and beyond to make sure everything was great. I feel as if they did a good job modernizing the place.There is a spot to play pool and you can also chill and sit outside on the patioI don't know if they serve food at this point or if they plan on serving food in the future.The atmosphere of this place is a lot more vibrant with colorful lights and better seating, that is compared to how Dabrewski's was a few years back when I visited.The prices of the drinks are not too expensive either.Overal, this place is modern and the prices are decent.“

“Who doesn't Love a great dive bar a hidden gem for over 25 years. Located corner of West Jefferson and Zug Island it's really easy to find. The Black Horse Cantina on West Jefferson is in an isolated and industrial part of the city. Totally unique 1950s interior with a long bar, couple pool tables and a kitchen putting out really great Mexican food. Yes Taco Tuesday and Beef Birria on the weekends. We had 3 each of the Al Pastor and Asada Tacos topped with Cilantro n Onion some Limes Salsa n more Onion's. Outstanding flavor each bite also Pollo stuffed Burrito I Loved they put it on the flattop for crispy outside. Finally a super Delicious Steak n Cheese Quesadilla. “I love the this location. Went on a Saturday night and just beat the rush at 9:30 pm. Our server was Crystal and she was a Queen! We loved her so much. She was friendly and fabulous. She got us everything we needed in a timely fashion. The food was delicious. We all love the antipasto salad. Mmmm! Pizza is so yummy as well as the breadsticks. “Anybody reading this, my mamaw was the barmaid there beginning in the 60s. Annie Ruth Ladd. They also lived above the bar for some time. My mother told me that she vividly remembers looking out the window and seeing the National guard going down Jefferson into Detroit. At that time, she was 9 years old. My mother grew up to work in the bar. Her name is Roseann or Rosie. I spent lots of my youth there, playing quarter machines. Rosie Also worked Square Deal. “I was in a party of 9 on a lunch outing with coworkers, and one restaurant down the street let us sit for about 30 minutes with no service. We called Whiskey's to see if they could accommodate us.
