“This place is a total dive, but in the best way possible! The Redneck Riviera is a hole-in-the-wall joint with a heart of gold. The beer is cheap, the music is loud, and the crowd is a mix of locals and out-of-towners looking for a good time. “Before we moved away in 1972 (when I was 10) This was my father's bar.... Where everybody KNEW HIS NAME.... and I often was with him and everybody knew MY NAME, and bought me Shirley Temples.... I played in the empty stage area on the other side of the bar area.... Has it changed in 60 years? “BEST FOOD Ever for Downriver's Best Brewery. Outstanding selection of Brews!! Ate there constantly since they opened in Nov 2019. Food is DEEEEELICIOUS! 3 Awesome Brewers/Owners, 5 Outstanding Waitresses, and 2 Superb Cooks. Their constant smiles are catchy for all to view!! Just a wonderful & comfortable place to visit and relax at. And you can play Domino’s there too! Always Enjoy.“

“The only reason I’m giving a good review is because the bartender. Thank you for Amanda for the great service. I’ve always loved this bar but the clientele is biggest problem. There’s a big guy in orange clothes that smells so bad you want to throw up. I’m not sure why he’s allowed in.“

“Anybody reading this, my mamaw was the barmaid there beginning in the 60s. Annie Ruth Ladd. They also lived above the bar for some time. My mother told me that she vividly remembers looking out the window and seeing the National guard going down Jefferson into Detroit. At that time, she was 9 years old. My mother grew up to work in the bar. Her name is Roseann or Rosie. I spent lots of my youth there, playing quarter machines. Rosie Also worked Square Deal. Y'all probably knew my papaw too his name was Jim Ray Boatwright and he was known in River Rouge as being one of the Town drunks lol God rest his soulCan't wait to stop in and reminisce!Also, if anybody knew my family or can share stories, please let me know. “I've been here several times as a guest and always enjoyed it and loved all the tradition this organization has. Everyone is friendly and the entertainment is always top notch. I love the beautiful waterfront view here at the point where the Detroit River opens into Lake Erie. This club is connected to an island that is connected to an island that is connected to an island. Go figure!“

“Nice tavern and nice atmosphere. Food is good but I tried the cob salad with blackened chicken twice now. The blackened chicken is not tender. Quite hard to chew. So I probably won’t recommend or order chicken salad again. Drinks were good and service was fine.“

“First time here! When you hear about little bars or restaurants off the beaten path that have great food, Franks Cafe is the place. We squeezed in to the last two available seats at the bar today (Fish fry Friday) and ordered the walleye and the perch. The wait for it was a little long but holy moly, well worth the wait! The owner was in constant motion at the fryers working his butt off as were the wait staff and bartenders too. I’ve had fish all over the downriver area and this place was the best! I’m from Irish Hills where they have good fish too, but I’m telling you, try the fish at Franks! Outstanding!“
